I can assure you the new egr assembly (which includes new egr valve) that is replaced under warranty does need coding.

Further update, told today not to expect my car anytime soon. It could take up to 9 weeks!

Ours took 5 months, and no, there’s no compensation nor legal route available to claim any either as it’s a recall. Yes, I looked into this too about 2 months into our shitstorm of an experience.

You diesel lovers even delayed my "real BMW" gas engine recall here in UK! :P
Just a nod to how much bandwidth the EGR recalls are consuming... I had my 650i in for the 'Dual channel auxiliary coolant pump circuit' blah blah recall last week. At Specialist BMW, they were literally running around like headless chickens trying to manage a roomful of EGR recall angry customers. (British angry... so like not saying "please" and "sorry" as much as usual... I saw one woman even leave her tea cup on the counter without washing it. lol) Mine was meant to take a couple hours and took two days, because everyone was full onto the EGR issue. Customers arguing, some cute chick flipping out because "[she] bought a 118d and will not be seen in a Mini" (?! same thing?) It was brutal. |

Counting myself one of the lucky few that had it checked and didn't require it even though Barons BMW Aldershot had a stack of parts on hand if needed (142)

Having nothing done now is not strixttly6a good thing, it just means yours isn't utterly clogged and leaking yet. It's a safety recall, so all will need to be changed for updated parts. This is such a clusterfuck of a situation for bmw that they are prioritising cases, so are dealing with already failed ones first, then will start on the replacement of others. I know if I was turned away, I'd be having it checked again in 3 months time, as I'd rather have it fixed, than being a potential fire hazard (worst case), or it getting clogged up, leaking then letting go and melting the Inlet manifold as well (as ours did). |

Mine was done back in November with MOT, in and out same day. No issues, this was just as the recall letters were coming out. I think mark provided the heads up so got them to check my vin and get the work done before I got my letter. Mine was definitely bad.
As for you guys with rental cars, I'm assuming your doing the obligatory and giving them back with no tyre ware left? |

I’ve been in touch with BMW UK throughout...they had my car for 3 weeks; when my wife’s 420d F33 had a steering wheel warning light appear.
So we drove to the dealership, why not it’s only 2 years old, plus I could ask about mine. The rep plugged her key in and up popped EGR valve! It’s not under the recall and was done in 24hrs but it was clear they were concerned. So I relayed all this to BMW UK and asked for a bigger car to replace my V40 rental since I’m looking at another 5 weeks at least. I was contacted today and told I had a V90 which was the equivalent of 5 series Touring! So some pictures later and a restrained level of sarcasm later I sent some pictures of the V40. Funny thing is despite the lady in question thinking I had a V90 she said she’d get me a bigger car? Let’s see what happens tomorrow! |

If that’s the case this is being handled worse than I thought. Surely BMW UK should know who’s got what and if required send from dealership to dealership! |

They have no idea. They don't know when they will get stock apparently, as it's being handled by BMW in Germany

First thing I asked them when handing my car over to them was "am I going to get it back today if it needs work?" and they told me they had the parts on site and would be done that day. But for me it wasn't required.

You can freeze payments if finance is with BMW GB and insist on like for like loan car, if finance is with external provider insist that BMW make contribution to cover none use of one their product, had this with several cars over the years where parts have been on back order. Personally never had any issue, matter will need to be escalated within customer services
