Molykote D 96 lubricant alternative?

Hi guys

Newtis mentions "Molykote D 96" lubricant on several occasions. I have tried to source this online, but it is hugely expensive and can only be bought in large quantities.

Does anyone know of suitable alternative?

Thank you!

According to the Molykote D-96 technical datasheet, it is an air-curing dry film lubricant that is safe for paint and plastics. It is manufactured by Dow Corning.

A possible alternative that has similar properties and is readily available in small quantities would be DuPont Teflon Non-Stick Dry-Film Lubricant.

Sorry for the delay in replying to this post.

I was interested in the lubricant as it is recommended in this procedure in newtis:

I guess what I was really wondering was how important it was. If you were doing something like lubing main bearings before reinstalling a crankshaft you might want to follow recommended procedure carefully. If you're putting some grease between a spring and piece of squeaky foam in a seat, any close substitute would seem to be fine without worry.
