Navigation traffic flow

Isn't the traffic flow (colored streets, red, yellow, green) and traffic icons supposed to show even if you don't have the RTTI subscription?

I don’t think so. My subscription runs out in a year. I’ll let you know! Lol.

No... All of that goes away when your subscription expires...

That's how I know my subscription has expired - when I don't see the colors.

Yup, just paid the $50 for RTTI, well worth it. All I needed to do was log into my ConnectedDrive account and click on the RTTI option and it was there.

Yeah, it is worth it. Mine has suggested detours several times that have save me tons of time. I’ll definitely renew my subscription when the time comes. Updated my Nav maps, btw. I paid for a ‘lifetime code’ but my car didn’t even ask for it. wtf?

I tried this for a year and was disappointed - nothing beats Waze - here in the UK anyway.

There certainly are better options out there, but I too recently subscribed. I like having the navigation integrated into the Heads Up display. Having the RTTI available just simplifies the driving experience and minimizes distractions from the phone.

If you subscribe to this service does it also show you the speed limit in the instrument cluster? I've been curious as to why some models display this and some don't.

Mine showed that before I had the subscription.

These are the services activated on my car.
BMW assist eCall
Remote Services
BMW TeleServices
Advanced Real time traffic information

Real time traffic has nothing to do with showing the speed limit. The camera in your windshield actually reads speed limits signs. Every time you pass one the speed limit in the cluster changes about a second later. I don't know if that was part of some option package.

Ditto what Opie55 said. To have the speed limit displayed in the cluster and/or HUD is an option. You need option code S8THA - Road Sign Detection for speed limit info to appear.
