m6 gran coupe with M Performance Race (OLED) steering wheel

My new car seems to have been retrofitted with this steering wheel: https://www.parts.bmwgroup.com/infod..._057_03_14.pdf

which I gather isn't meant for the 6 series. That probably explains why I get the sexy light-show when turning the ignition on, and the 'M Performance' text on the OLED, but then nothing after that, and the buttons don't do anything.

It has the carbon fibre trim too.

Any thoughts? Might it be possible to make it do something? Or should I look to trade in for an original wheel if I find it upsets me too much?

Hey man, my car also came with it.

1. It definitely is for the M6. They make a version for M5/6. Your link is the M3 version.

2. You just don't know how to operate it. The manual is an extensive 40 page document. Email BMW Genius and ask them for the M6 version and they'll email you a pdf.

Of you have issues, let me know and I'll email you the manual.

While you wait, you can play around with it. You need to simply push and hold both button down to turn it on. Left button cycles through menu, and right reverses the selection.

You sir, are a superstar! Thanks very much :-) Yes it works!!
I didn't see it on the options list I was given with the car, and couldn't find an M6 / F06 version online anywhere.

I had a proper look in the paperwork I have been given with the car, and I do have the printed book for the steering wheel

Thanks again

Just for your reference, you can find compatibility information on ETK and in this particular case under the category 03 - Retrofitting / conversion / accessories.
