That is for the side cameras; one on each front wheel well arch.

When activated, the main screen gives you the side views of cross-traffic; it's useful for when pulling out of a side street or a parking lot since our car's hood is about 3.2 miles long.

Side note - pic must be for a RHD. LHD cars have the button on the right side of the gear shift knob.

P136 of the handbook. It turns external camera on/off.

If you don't have a handbook I'd suggest a free download from the internet. There's also one on your idrive.

Don't have one, not bought the car yet. Hopefully collecting next week.

Is there a link for a downloadable copy?

This should help:
https://www.bmwusa.com/owners-manuals.html

You'll need the VIN.

Don't need a link if you have access to the internet....and you really won't need your VIN either.

Just type "BMW {type model year and series here} Owners Manual PDF" into a google search box...and you should get multiple links to PDF manuals you can download to your device of choice. This way you can have an owners manual with your at all times.

If you had given enough information...you could have been given a direct link to an owners manual...but we don't know what model or model year BMW you are referring to...so a simple google search on your own should get you what you need.

BTW...if your specific model year isn't availabe....BMW doesn't change much...so any year that is on the same side of the facelift or prefacelift will be the same. A 2013-2015 manual and a 2016-2019 manual will be the same.

Garage List
If you hit that button whilst the car is in Drive, the cameras come on; in Neutral, the Passenger seat ejector fires, if in Park, the Driver seat ejector fires.

Not too bad in convertibles, a little rough in a sunroof car, a VERY short vertical trip in a hardtop. I’m still picking Hartz cloth out of my ear canals.
