Yes, that's it exactly. As I said in an earlier post, it's the art of speaking out of both sides of the mouth in order to retain investors, marketshare, customer confidence, good favor from the various powers that be, etc. amidst a wildly disruptive period in the industry.

The good news is the existing engines will be updated and put to good use in many new models - PHEV especially - throughout this decade. There are still some exciting fuel burning vehicles ahead.

Remember when we were told level 5 self driving cars would be on the roads in great numbers by 2020?

50% market share for EV in next 10 years, top end. I have it at 35%.

I think it all depends on geography. EV's are moving at a snail's pace in North America. The overwhelming majority of new car sales today are still ICE and that's not going to change for some time.
