Real simple, if you want to use the JD Power rankings in your decision making, feel absolutely free to do so.

If you value Consumer Reports... more power to you...

If Car & Driver, Road & Track, etc. are your sources...

If you rely on YouTube reviews, again whatever works for you to make your own decision...

Personally the JD Power awards/rankings have absolutely no value in my decision making process.

3.0 Supra. Easy, cannot believe you are even deliberating or considering the 2T.

Stretch and get it done, it is SWA over 10 years and when you sell it you'll get more for it.

Figure out what think you want, test drive it and get a firm price and see where you end up. Take your time and make the best judgement and enjoy it. Don't over spend and stress yourself out since cars are lousy investments but everyone knows that. Your life changes and your needs of a car changes. Good luck

What a nice problem to have ... Stinger vs. Supra!

The Stinger really intrigued me as a very versatile GT type hauler with the top of the line AWD GT2 providing a best of all worlds car.

The new Supra seems to be somewhat of a dichotomy with it's Toyota heritage but BMW soul. Plus it's almost two complete different cars with the 2L vs. 3L decision.

For me I'd do a test drive for both to attempt to eliminate one or the other. If I couldn't, then my next step would be to figure out who wants to make a deal ... it appears that you can get a top of the line Stinger for about the same price as the 2L Supra.

My guess is the Supra will be your preferred choice, and I think the Savage Geese did a good job in his review of both the 2L & 3L (18:32 mark) :

"These cars the best examples of the modern sports cars ... people's eyes pop out as you drive by":

Note: SG also had an excellent review on the Stinger:

The first option is a Supra 2.0, which keeps the 2-seater aspect of the Miata, but has significantly more space. However it is way more money than I originally intended to spend (bottom line is I am cheap).

The second option is a Kia Stinger GT (3.3L V6). This is absolutely the more practical choice and honestly is a good compromise between practicality and performance.

When the search started the Miata was at the top of the list and I was shooting for a cap of $35K

Both the Supra and Stinger top that, which I wouldn't love, but would be ok with. At the same time, the price factor has also brought the 86/BRZ back into the picture.

I didn't bother with adding the $$$ part at the beginning, as I was looking for feedback on the main cars I had already narrowed it down to

Yikes ...calm down. Stop trying to put words in my mouth.
If you want to buy a Kia or a Toyota or a ten speed bike then go ahead. I was only suggesting a direct competitor to a car on your list and gave you one source of reliability ratings.

No problem, just trying to say use whatever works for you. It can be kind of hard to read the intention of messages at times

Friends don’t let friends drive 4 pots when a better option is available. Get either the inline TT 6 or TT V6.

This will be a 10-year car, so for me that means I'm sticking with new in this search.

Okay, that is definitely a tough price point to find something fun and good at. Here's what I've got.

-2022 Stinger (the facelifted model has a newer and better 4-cylinder)
-New-Generation BRZ/86 (if you can wait for it to be released)
-Mustang GT Fastback/Vert
-Genesis G70
-New Nissan Z (I know you said you don't like Nissans but this is mainly using technology and parts from their good era)

That's honestly all I can think of. I would honestly get the new Z over the 2.0 Supra, or stretch the budget for a 3.0 Supra, it will be worth it in the long run.

That's what I said, just get the 3.0, seriously, NFI why you want a 2T sports car for 10 years. You're gonna regret it EVERY time you start the car and it's sounds ass.

Like the 2.3 Mustangs, like really.

Ended up going with the 2020 Toyota 86. It may have less power, but it was the only one that was truly fun to drive (and was the closest thing to the Miata which is what I originally wanted).

On another forum I went through the same process with a guy who went with the 86. i said it needed more power. We argued for 3 years about this, him adamant it didn't.

Then he posts a pic of his new to him Cayman. needless to say...... he needed more power.

They are fun cars. I had a '15 BRZ. Ground Controls, 18x9.5 RPF1s with 255/35 Star Specs, MXP cat-back, and E85 tune.

With a full exhaust and quality E85 tune you can get them up around 200-205whp from 200 at the crank. If you decide to lower it, ensure you buy a quality suspension (not the all the different rebranded Taiwanese junk). They are rear travel limited when lowered.

Depending on what happens at the end of the year, if I decide not to buy a new car. I may buy a used BRZ and Kswap it.
