Reminds me of a guy I worked with in the early 80's. We would get paired up for field repair on heavy equipment. He was in his very late sixties, maybe 70. If you smashed a finger he would grab his drill and drill a hole in your fingernail. If he got a cut he would put some battery acid on it, wrap it with electrical tape and go back to work. I learned a lot of good field injury repair tips from him, but stopped short of the battery acid trick!

I worked through a lot of injuries. Sucked it up and kept working. Now days if an employee stubs their toe they go to a worker's comp doctor and need 3 days off to recover.

I realize that I'm young enough to be everyone's daughter on this Forum but I remember being covered head to toe with that pink stuff after I decided to poke
at a bee's nest. So I'll get off all of your lawns.

Eh? Mercurochrome was painless wasn't it? You should try tincture of iodine.

You know you're old when you get a surprise in the mail from a friend on the other side of the planet (Melbourne). She said she saw this and just had to send it to me. It even came with detailed care instructions. I'm not sure how to take it.

You know you're old if you had one of these in your car. I installed many of these when I worked for my dad's radio & TV store:

Gonna take you even further back. Remember the Victrola? (I 'member...seriously though, I don't remember it either)

The Victrola radio was a big deal back in the day (1930's). What was even a bigger deal was having a radio in your car. A small company that wanted to make having something similar to a Victrola in your car, made just this very thing possible. As a spin off of the the Victrola name, and considering it was placed in a car, the Motorola company was born.

......and here's your audiophile/car history lesson for the day.

We had a genuine Victrola on display at my dad's store and it still worked. It currently resides in a museum.

Not many folks have seen one of these ... model 80 built around 1947 records on a thin metal filament ...still works great.

That's awesome! I've seen several throughout my years, but I've never seen one functional.
