Drive Train Error Cold Start

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this fault on cold start.
My sons 640D comes up with a drive train error just a few hundred yards after starting off and putting a few revs on the car. It will error maybe 3 times in a few miles.

Once he has completed maybe 5 miles or so and had maybe half hour in a gym etc he can drive the car as normal and really drive it without it coming up.

This is really only when the car is cold ( new start)

Any ideas advice would be appreciated.
