F12/F13/F06 Power trunk retrofit
Did anyone retrofit this power trunk?
I found 3 videos. My biggest problem is trunk damper. Which model damper should I divert? Any suggestions are welcome regards https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbKg...&t=0s&index=24 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ErK...&t=0s&index=23 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ayci...JEnyjw&index=7 |

This would be great if somebody could figure it out. I bet that although most of the parts could probably be sourced from an F10 (or another platform), there would at least be a few that would have to be custom built.
Watch the second video on this page (they’re selling a kit for an F10) to get an idea of what’s involved... https://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw...trunk-retrofit |

The biggest problem with this project I noticed the damper bracket.
It is necessary to create custom brackets. Last edited by maron; 01-08-2019 at 07:56 AM.. |

A day have 24h that sounds really cool. Do you have a rough time frame? Please think about the spoiler on the trunk. The motor should be strong enough to open the trunk with a spoiler on it. |

Power Trunk Retrofit
Hi Guys,
You may have seen my earlier post also chasing a retro-fit trunk solution. My investigations suggested that while the dampers were one issue, the big issue was the trunk button being incorporated into the rear badge and camera as it is exclusive to the 6. As such, the normal F10 trunk button cannot be used. Then again, I also saw a video where they managed to operate a power trunk with the 6 series trunk release, but not details provided. If you guys find a solution, would love to hear about it! Cheers. |

There are two wires open signals. The signals are converted to a switching open/close signal by the control unit. After a long research, I will install Last edited by maron; 05-19-2019 at 09:41 PM.. |

It's unlike to ever be available on the F12 owing to how the trunk lid is hinged.
Darnedest thing though...TIS has the wiring diagrams and functional documents for "automatic luggage compartment lid actuation" as they call it in the F12/F13/F06 libraries, but the parts to make it happen just don't exist. In theory it's really simple...the control module (HKL) is connected to the ZGW on the K-CAN, and the two spindle drive actuators are connected to the HKL. Swap out the button on the inside of the tailgate for the 2-function one and you should be good to go with only some coding on the ZGW. I have never seen any F13/F06 that doesn't have a soft close trunk latch, so pretty much everything you need (according to the diagrams, and bar the bits above) should be in the car already. But again, there are no part numbers for either the HKL or the actuators. Last edited by hugo_nz; 05-20-2019 at 06:16 AM.. |
