Error Help - Convertible Top Module / angle-of-rotation sensor, fin
My F12 top will only open halfway up and then it sticks. If I turn the car off/on and then close it the top will close fine but still gets stuck half way when trying to open. I scanned the codes and got this error listed:
Code 80501A: position sensor Finn: short circuit to negative Looked up the codes online and this code is here: http://bmwfault.codes/XMLDiagView?do...UANAA0ADAANAA= Looked on Newtis, found info on angle of rotation sensor https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...e-top/FqvCdogv Any idea how I can fix this? Want to check the fuses as well but can't figure out what fuses deal with the convertible top. Thanks. |

I had this happen to me. The guy at the independent dealership said that the hinge at the back was slightly bent (or had moved) and had broken the sensor off. That therefore means the car doesn't think the roof is in the correct position and stops for safety.
Fix: He glued the sensor back in place and bent the hinge at the back more inline (towards the centerline of the car) so it didn't knock the sensor off anymore. Still works fine a few weeks later after many up & downs. Part No. 12 in this diagram - follow link Last edited by e93335i; 04-24-2020 at 02:52 PM.. |
