Q for those with US front plate mount.
I just bought a 2015 650i Msport that had no front plate. So I bought an OEM BMW front mount online. Everything is right about it, except it is just slightly smaller than the plate. The plate sticks out about 1/8th inch all the way around. For those that have them, is that the way they are? Just seems odd, and would look even more stupid with a plate frame. Just want to confirm. Thanks.

I feel for you guys that you have to put them on, no more than I drive my car I would probably take the risk and not have the dang thing on ...

I've never yet lived in a state that does not require front plates. If I have to have one, I use the factory mount despite holes I need to drill. I don't like the look of the tow hook mounts.

I wouldn't worry about the plate being slightly larger than the frame, it is barely noticeable, anyone else other than yourself would prob not notice it since they would prob be looking at other parts of your vehicle

sorry about your luck. lol.
I live in SF, CA, which is crazy about cracking down on front plates. Even with that, I'd rather pay the fix it ticket and go through the hassles of a traffic stop than to ever put a plate on that beautiful front face. With the fix it ticket, I just simply put on the tow hook plate mount, get it signed off, and then promptly take that damn thing off.

Maybe it only bothers me because I took the time to paint the black mount body color and it will be largely hidden. Not sure I want to deal with tickets, etc as much as I agree about the front end looking much better without it. But that makes me feel like a bit of a wimp because I looked up the former owner online. She lived in a front plate state but had none, apparently. Then I saw that she is 73. I think I want to meet a 73 year old woman who drove a twin-turbo V8 convertible and cared enough to scoff at the plate law.
