M1 is comfort steering and sport plus twice. Steering is too heavy otherwise.

M2 is all sport plus, plus traction control off. Have to press twice. This is for when I want to slip the rear.

Garage List
M1: Sport - Sport - Sport (mostly for if I let a friend drive, or if I'm driving in bad conditions or exceptionally tired)
M2: Sport Plus - Sport - Sport Plus - MDM (what I use 99% of the time)

I forgot what MDM was, I drive too hard to keep traction control off
I've seen enough threads on just this forum where members crashed their new M6 because they wanted to play with DSC off
My car already can not keep traction with 700+ hp

my settings are like:
M1: DSC on, sport, sport, sport, S2
M2: DSC on, sport plus, sport plus, sport plus, S3

Thanks guys! like to know when and where you use 1&2. Mountain-canyon driving or a Hell Cat pulls up next to you and hit M2 etc... Thanks for the replies.

MDM then allows a little play then without being completely off (and pending doom on a wet road....) ie you can get some slip?

Yeah I like MDM. I wish it would give me a LITTLE more slip, but with DSC off entirely it IS easy to get spun around, esp with extra power.

I agree, I wish MDM would let you get a little more sideways. The problem comes on full acceleration with rear wheel spin, when the rear end goes a bit sideways -- as it should -- but that bit of yaw causes the throttle to cut off, killing the wheel slip. I wish it would let more of that kind of tail-wagging on acceleration take place.

M1 (daily driving): MDM, Sport, Sport, Sport (I have a manual transmission, and "Sport Plus" throttle turns off the rev-matching, which I have come to like. I move throttle to Sport Plus when I want a bit more spirit!) I also have to press M1 twice, because it includes MDM.

M2 (passengers on board): Sport, Sport, Comfort suspension

MDM = M Dynamic Mode

It's a traction control mode that allows the tires to slip a bit, and allows the rear end to get a little sideways, before traction control kicks in and cuts power etc....

If you press the traction control button for a second, it will go into MDM mode. If you hold it for several seconds it will fully disable traction control (be super careful with this!).

It's more fun than normal! But always remember that any traction control, including MDM, cannot repeal the laws of physics and you can still easily get yourself into a bad situation if you aren't careful.

Oh ok thank you. I've been practicing with the car out in the open (non street or public areas) with traction off just to test its limits and see how to handle it. I didnt know there was MDM I'm gonna play with that too

If you don't know how to drift around a corner (and I am not talking about slip the rear and then catching it, as some people think this is drifting, there is a difference between correcting a slide and going around a corner with on-off-on-off throttle control to adjust the angle of the car) then do not drive with DSC off on public roads because it means you do not know how to control the rear.

You might think you got some practice testing the limit, but in real world it's very different. A high torque car like the M5 can easily catch you out on a wet/dirty/slippery road.
