Yes. One model from one manufacturer...sales leader perhaps, but not a technical standout.

Thats the problem with Bolt, the i3, and i8. They are marketed as some climate change stopping products and thus are boring as hell and will flop. Tesla is not marketing it as any such thing, but a kick ass car, that just happens to be electric. Its already having impact on BMW: https://www.reddit.com/r/teslamotors...o_bmw_3series/ Last edited by Agni; 07-02-2017 at 03:56 PM.. |

Hundreds of laptop-computer size batteries is not an advance in technology. Tesla has pretty much had the field to itself and come up with bland cars that accelerate well once or twice and then overheat. The interiors are cheap, the switchgear embarrassing and the ergonomics is horrendous. They can communicate with homebase, and download new programming, but that's about it. When real automobile manufacturers, with a century plus of manufacturing history decide to compete Tesla will be ground into the dust. Like about now.

So in comparison 500,000 is a huge number. |

My M4 interior is pretty nice. It doesn't have a huge computer screen that I need to manipulate to get the car to perform basic functions. It has real swtichgear that doesn't look or feel cheap.

Other manufacturers consistently deliver those numbers and more and have been doing so for many years, without need for pre-orders. So while that number is admirable (and a bit surprising to me personally) Tesla still needs to prove then can actually deliver, and deliver with quality, something other manufacturers already do. Quote:
i3 and i8 orders have already been paid for built and sold, these are all pre-orders, keep that in mind. Once Tesla delivers and fully gets paid for these vehicles, then builds a bit of reputation for solid quality, fit and finish, then these numbers become even more important. Guess we'll know in 2 months.
Although it means it won't be available until 2019 I really hope it's based on the G20 and not the current 3 series. Perhaps it's a generic G20 concept and all we get to know from Frankfurt is that it will be available as an all electric at some point... that would be typical BMW... |

By that logic, the iPhone is Chinese.

^ thanks...yes..it's a Hybrid. For some reason my head was stuck in it's a straight EV. Re: The i3. I've driven one..didn't like it. I really dislike the design; it has to be the ugliest EV on the market which is why I used 'POS' to describe it, albeit a bit harshly I suppose on second thought. I like it more than a Prius if that's any consolation lol. Do I want one? No. I'm old school; I like gas powered everything given the current offerings (918 being the exception.)
