Stupid because no room behind seats so seats do not recline. Better off to buy 2 series BMW which has front seats that recline. Sitting in that car will be like sitting in BMW Z4,Supra or Porsche Boxster or Cayman. You sit upright like in a chair. Not comfortable for long drives. Looks great from outside though. This is one of the problems when they share platforms or chassis. They pretty much just put a different shell on it. Ok for short people though

LoL, $250k.

I guess you really, really have to pay to not have an ugly azz new BMW. It's a shame, the car is a beauty.

Surely BMW knows that anything with ///M kit demands a 15-25% premium. Add the manual, S58, and ///M suspension treatment. With Porsche getting a huge price bump, they could sell this for 90K+.

Just gotta say... I love that car. One of the best Ferraris of modern history.

Indeed, one can hope. The front end, remarkably, doesn't for once seem like an exercise in creating a swarm of sharp and disperate angles. Perhaps most scandalously of all, here they seem to have reintroduced an elegantly bespoke dash with--whisper it--a proper binnacle! Maybe the reign of ID8's banal homogeneity is already coming to end in the minds of BMW designers...

The people in the comments who don’t like this are Johnny Come Lately XM buyers. Nuff said.

FF, M Coupe, Z4M vibes. I love it.

I assume BMW has capacity at Magna Steyr with the Z4 selling only ~2400/year, but I wonder if they would lend the Alpina name to the high end and still offer a sub 90k with the same components as the M40. If they hope to sell in volume it needs a manual option imo.

It looks like a fat Z4/old ‘clown shoe’ design… not sure what I think of it, but it’s better than almost every other concept BMW has shown lately

I like the design quite a bit, but would not buy it. Too many other options for a 2 seat sports car.

Still, a good sign that BMW can still design a good looking car with strong historical DNA. If they made it a 4 door like the Taycan Cross Turismo, I’d be all over it.

If one knows how the E86 Z4 Coupe came to fruition, this car can easily make it to production based off the G29 Z4. Magna Steyr built the E86 Z4 Coupe concept and brought it to BMW in 2005 as a consideration for production. Magna Steyr didn't even build the E85 at that time. Now they build the Z4 for BMW. Should be a no-brainer. The problem is crash testing cost.

If they produce this vehicle, no way is this going to be a limited production run. There will be too much of a demand not to. Even at that cost, they’ll sell ton of them. This would be a semi halo vehicle for the brand. That should amortize any type of crash testing cost if they’ll have. And it would repair a lot of angst with their long time supporters to bring them back into the fold.

If the $250,000 number is anywhere near accurate, it is a non starter. That is more than a 911 Dakar, which is a far more special vehicle than a Z4 with a shooting brake rear end. Heck, a 911 Turbo S would be a better purchase.
