Regarding the 404, it was a very old link that I saved in my favorites of my Safari browser. I’ve used it for years. It was…

https://g45.bimmerpost.com/forums/

But it had a bunch of weird numbers and code at the end of it. When I take away those weird numbers and code, the link works. The link takes me to the 2.0 version of the G45 forum.

Did you get rid of the original version of the G45 forum? Is that officially history?

Yup the old one is gone, but of course the goal is for the new one to be BETTER. I for sure want to make sure all the old links point to the new place properly so if happen to get the old link and paste it I can investigate and see what is going on. If not no worries, there are still many improvements to be made here!

My 2 cents. When quoting a person’s previous post, often I prefer to quote ONLY their post. But if they previously quoted somebody, and that person previously quoted somebody, then it could potentially be a waterfall of multiple cascading quotes. Too many quotes, IMO. With the old software version, I could trim and delete the quotes I didn’t want to show. But I find this new software version isn’t too friendly in accomplishing that. I must show every quote in the universe, which I’d rather not do.

Agreed about massive quote waterfalls. Right now, it limits all quote trains to just 2 quotes (so one quote and one nested quote), it will automatically delete anything deeper then that. If you are seeing that not happening on a post can you just point me to the thread/post and I can investigate further.

I can easily set it to allow only 1 level deep of a quote, but was thinking of making it setting in the general settings menu. It's like that on the app currently. I was thinking it would get buried in there and nobody would ever see it, so I wasn't sure if anyone would want it.

As for getting rid of the quotes, good point, I just added an X icon to the top right area of the quote so it's easier to delete a quote. you can also un-click the quote button not he post in question to remove quotes if it happens to be in your field of view (you may have to do a force refresh of your screen to see the new X icon -- force refresh is holding shift or ctrl and clicking the refresh icon in your browser toolbar)

Thanks for listening. I do see the “X” in the upper corner of the quotes, and it seems to work just fine. That’s great. I don’t like reading a thread which is 90% quotes and only 10% real material (that’s a lot of useless scrolling), so my personal choice is to use the quotes feature sparingly, only if it’s absolutely necessary to the discussion. Thanks again.

By the way, directly next to the “X” is 6 dots. I thought it was something like a menu or an edit button, but when I select it, it does nothing. I’m using an Apple iPad, by the way.

It's a drag handle, so you can move the quote around inside the post/editor. Hold it down and just move it around. Im not sure if it works on the iPad, but it just might...

As for the quotes, im still debating if I should force limit it to one level of depth, keep as is (2 level max) or leave it as some kind of setting on a peruser basis. To be seen, stay tuned...

Any chance of adding a MyForums filter on the New Posts page? I really only want to see new posts in forums that interest me, but those span the various forum "sites". Turning on Include Posts from all BIMMERPOST sites adds too much noise to get a cross-site view.

I like that idea, so the answer is YES, I just added it to the roadmap and force this coming sooner rather then later...

TLDR so just adding a comment here...In the members classified section, I can't see the asking price from the OP.

Yeah, after a cache clear and reload the filter does work to limit to my forums. I'm not sure of a better way to present those check boxes, but it felt a bit weird being mutually exclusive with the other two. I would at least disable those when Only in MyForums is on.

Yes very true, those have to be checked for the time being for it to work until I finalize the backend. But if the results look good I’m going to finalize it hopefully very soon. Thanks!

The previous site had a way to search or find subjects or threads by simply performing a SORT, and one could immediately find the Subject and or Thread posted. I really liked the ability to sort because it allowed me to see if the subject was being discussed BEFORE deciding if I had to start discussing a subject or issue and starting a new thread. The new site does not have that feature and it is a lot harder to find out if a particular subject or issue is being discussed.
The old site even allowed forum members to sort by : Number of Views, or by Number of Responses, etc.

It would be very helpful if the new site provides the sort feature.

I miss the sort feature a lot.

Thank you for your attention.

Great suggestions, im going to look into making this happen! Just to be clear, we are talking about sorting by post count or view count right? Sorting by thread means sorting by name? Is there actually useful?

Will visited topics change color when you've read them like the current forum?

Make that a YES to all 3 of your questions above. In fact, The more SORT options, the better.

Even if there is a way to include a "search" box, like say for example: One types in the SEARCH box "2025 X3 A/C". The system will populate the page with ALL the threads that contain "A/C Posts and /or Threads" being discussed. The advantage of such feature is that the user/member will see if the Topic or Subject is being discussed Immediately and it will prevent topics or subject from being posted repeatedly (Redundant posts).

BTW, I was also thinking about making the threads be more specific to a particular Vehicle area/Function. For example:
If I was to initiate a thread on Wheel Alignment, that topic should be posted as a "child" of the major Thread on STEERING.
If someone was to post a thread about the REAR DIFFERENTIAL, that thread would be posted as a "Child" of the Major Thread on REAR AXLE.
A post about Driver Seat, should be posted as a "Child" of the INTERIOR/SEATS thread, and so on.

The way all the threads are displayed as of now is not organized, and it takes (as of now 39 pages) to view. It would be nice to just Click on say: ENGINE, then all the threads that have posts with the word Engine would be populated immediately and there would be no need to go thru all 39 pages in other to find out the subject being discussed.

Again, this is ONLY a suggestion. If it can be done, it would be a fantastic way to review the posts and a great way to minimize redundant (repeat) posts.

Thank you for your attention.

Yes it should be doing that now, for example it will become unbolded. Is that not happening for you now? It will only happen if you’ve read all the posts in the thread…

So the reason I was thinking sorting the thread title is not a good idea, is because search might accomplish that. I do get what you are saying is that you want to sort the titles so then you can find the ‘engine’ ones lets say? But that might not work in terms of relevance. I think search wins on that point.

Now for search, its already implemented. What do you do is go to the forum in question. Go to the very top navigation bar, next to your username is a search bar. Open that up and off the bat the word ‘subforum’ should be highlighted. If so, what its doing is searching for your terms only in that forum. You can do this also with the full/advanced search but then you have to manually chose which forms to search inside of
