Went to Maido in Lima for dinner last night-- ranked as the #1 restaurant in Latin America for three years running and #6 in the world. Very, *very* different in tone that Central, but very, very good.

We did the wine/beer/saki pairing with the meal-- it's a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese-- which worked far better than you'd think.

Much yum.

Today was a travel day to Cuzco (~11,000')— acclimating (well, our friends are-- we're from Denver, so "meh" on the altitude), but Machu Picchu in a few days.

If you're ever in Lima, I'd REALLY recommend dining at both Central and Maido. Both are absolutely outstanding!

R.

Snows and X drive =unstoppable. Have you driven on 20 inch snows before? I wonder if they are as effective as a smaller diameter

Why would smaller diameter change anything? The tire composition/tread/contact patch is what gets you through the snow. Not the wheel size.

Having a smaller diameter wheel with higher profile sidewall can aid traction as it allows the sidewall to flex more.

In this case, a 1" difference will not make any substantial difference, assuming all other things (tires, conditions...). For all practical purposes, the tires will be far more important than 1" of wheel/tire difference.

I was fine on 20” snows, they were 285 all around on my ‘16 and ‘19 X6Ms. Previous generation had 255 50 19.

I’ll give you one better. The winter wheel and tire package for the new X6M is 21” !?!? The sidewall is 30 or 35 and 295? wide. WTF? Just what I want, a tiny sidewall for snow in pothole capital of the world.

Don’t the damn engineers know narrower with more sidewall is better? I guess it’s all about looks over function.

Narrower is always better in the mud and snow. So if you want "maximum" traction and snow-performance you would go with far narrower than any performance car comes with.

I know that but they keep changing the wheel and tire sizes. I need to get a new winter wheel package every generation and Im stuck with what BMW offers. I do have a square set up but it’s still too wide in my opinion.

So it really is all about girth, and not length? ;-)

4" or 6"? What is the throw on this guy? Did a mobile detail job this weekend and it got me to thinking about a cordless option for a DA.

Edit: Never mind, I googled. 3"

I bought practically the same Biergarten table this weekend but old and painted from an antique store for a pumpkin carving party this weekend. I'm fascinated by the double duty latch mechanisms on it
