Wow. thanks for all these. I did not expect such a great response. I will be collating these tommorow before flying up to Munich.

I will be talking to 3 of the heads. One in charge of the NK programme, one for design, and one for ui/ux. Design and ui/ux is something I hold dear because it is also what I actually do for my day to day work. I will also have a few of my own questions.

Thanks again everyone! I'll do what I can 👍

Enjoy.
You'll be able to set-up routines to disable the speedlimit alerts at startup. If I got it right, the vehicle will pop-up a message and you will just need to confirm.

Stuff in my brain...

What measurable weight target (vs. current G-series) did you set for the first Neue Klasse sedan/SAV, and did you hit it?

What’s the thermal derate curve for repeated 10–80% DC fast charges in warm weather?

In North America, when will Neue Klasse ship with a native NACS port (no adapter)?

Can owners roll back a major OTA if an update introduces regressions?

Any M-specific hardware reserved from the outset (bushings, subframes, cooling) rather than bolt-ons later?

Target battery warranty terms (years/miles and % capacity), and will there be out-of-warranty pack repair pricing published?

Timeline to see a Touring/wagon on Neue Klasse for NA/EU, and what would it take to green-light NA import?

For M division, is a manual transmission era definitively ending with ICE, or is there any hybridized manual concept under exploration?

What single piece of E30/E46 DNA you insisted the team keep—and how did you measure that it actually made it in?

and then, hit em with this... What’s one decision you reversed on Neue Klasse because of enthusiast/customer feedback—and what changed after?

I blame Tesla for the Touch Screen Pandemic. I love having the IDrive controller and surrounding buttons , way better than the all new B10 S5 I test drove that was all touchscreen.

The routines function looks good but I do wonder if EU law will allow this work around?

One question for me is why are driving modes not configurable other than Sport modes in the i5 and others? For instance why can't I have sports suspension in comfort? This is all just software config so must be possible.

I know you won't get an answer as per previous posts but I can not believe any actual formal large scale user testing&dev was undertaken for the UX. If it was, is there really a majority of people who said menus and small title submenus on a screen with no idrive wheel was preferred?

Yes because it's not full auto, as I understood on the video, it will ask the driver if he wants to run the routine..

We'll see in real life how is this going to work soon, but it doesn't seem a bad idea..

They already confirmed in May that NACS will come standard with Neue Klasse

I would think those will be reserved for x5 and x7. Full leather probably for x5m and x7 only.

VW admitted going all touch and no physical buttons was a mistake. We need more backtracking from others, and design the sensible ways.

Imagine if airplanes also suddenly went touchscreen only in the cockpit, many people will die. Just saying 🫣

Which Tesla inspired the interior design?

Is this design targeted to lifestyle enthusiasts or traditional bimmerheads? Will BMW offer a manual shifter?

Have they seen the criticism over steering feel on M cars? Any plans to make the steering less numb?

My questions would be:

1. People use touchscreen because they're forced to. Now they've got zero option to use buttons for the main functions so they've got no choice. Let's compare how many drivers used AC buttons in G01s and how many used the touchscreen. G01 X3 was a good balance, you could use buttons AND iDrive knob AND touchscreen. Why giving less option now?

2. Interior materials and design HAS become worse in G60, G45, etc. than their predecessors. Minimalist "design" eliminates interior quality and material usage. People who buy BMWs don't want to sit on recycled PET bottles but on genuine leather instead... and don't want to grab a chunk of plastic to open/close doors but metal handles. Please hear us. Just sit in a G30 then in an i5, see, smell, touch and feel the difference.

Thank you.

Exclamation

If possible, please ask whether they have eliminated charging throttle issue with Neue Klasse.

Please see for background Bjørn Nyland video:

Long story short: After 5-6 charging sessions the car did not take 200kW anymore, it started throttling and accepted below 100kW.

This was the main reason why I did not consider BMW i5. If this issue has been eliminated and the design is good, I will order the car without testdrive!

I do once a year roadtrip through Europe (around 6500km). The 800V architecture would render itself useless, if the throttle is still there!

Thank you in advance!

Will the next gen NK include a 2 series, RWD, 2DR coupe, based on the same platform(s) as the 4 series, like the current 2?

...
In my understanding that is to prevent battery overheat and degradation.

Still a lot of confusion with NK So again, NK will power EVs, like a future i2 and i4.

For now, there are no plans for a 2 Series and 4 Series ICE cars.

But if you want a RWD, 2door coupe with electric, you will get that

As the driver, the iDrive controller is way more useful than the touch screen. I never have to change my seating position. And have to look at the screen less. No reason not to have it.

Well they better rethink those plans asap because people want ICE cars especially in US market. BMW will be in a world of hurt once the $7,500 credit can’t be applied to i4 and iX.

The G01 X3 interior is perfect.
Huge screen with just enough buttons for HVAC and other items.
The iDrive is what made BMW so special and easy to use. I never use the touchscreen as the controller and buttons for home, map etc are right at your fingertips instead need to lean over and take your eyes off the road.

The new screen interiors are offered on every Hyundai/Kia/Tesla etc.
Absolutely nothing special about $5 LCD screens from alibaba.
