Pop Up navi screen? It can not be, when I see the interior photo, the nav screen looks like a pop up, like in the 1 series and the MB C class, please tell me I have vision problems or is only a prototype.

I miss bangle too. This new 6 doesn't do it for me. Also I was in the showroom the other day and there were a 5er and 7er both in white beside each other. They are SO overall similar - definitely BMW is trying for the family look like they had back in the days with the e38, e39 and e46.
With this 6 series it is so close to being perfect, but it's just not there. E92 however shows how good it is when everything is spot on. |

Reminds me of a Aston martin for some reason... Hmm I have to see this in person to really make an honest opinion.

very aston martin-ish. i love it. i disagree with the haters. i think the current 6 looks like a depressed cookie monster.
i'm scared to see how much it will be though.

I must also say that bangle was way ahead of his time. I mean just look at this and compare to the new one (I do think the new one looks good but for me, at least by the pictures, it doesnt do it for me yet).

I will probably be heavily criticized for saying this, but I think it looks horrible, specially compared to the current 6-series style. The front is just plain ugly, the wheels are way too busy, and if there is a section I somewhat like about the car, it has to be the rear, however, I still prefer the rear of the current 6-series as well. The headlights do seem to be packing some nice/new technology within them, but their shape is still not what I would consider attractive.
Just my opinion. |

Bangle's 6er? Are you aware the E63/E64 6er was actually penned by Adrian van Hooydonk himself, when he was still "just" a designer @ BMW, and not being yet a design boss there? While F12/F13 6er is penned by Nader Faghizadeh, the guy who also designed F01/02 7er interior! And that all the new BMW cars we see today (X1, 5er, 5er GT, 7er, X3, 6er, upcoming 1er, VED Concept) were still designed under Bangle as BMW Group design director (and van Hooydonk as BMW Automobile design director). So, the design language / strategy is not set by the design boss himself, but is decided by Board of Directors, and suggested by a team responsible for design strategy - a team where designers are only on part of equation. Team which also includes marketing experts, finance experts, engineers, design engineers, tooling & material experts, advanced design experts etc. It's a team decision. Design director is only there to execute the decided direction, and to organize & lead design processes, and be the link between the design teams, and the Board of Directors, and other departments within BMW Group. They are not "art directors" in any way! But they sure do influence the designs with suggestions & advices during the process. But in the end of the day it's still the Board of Directors who decides on final design, and on design strategy as well. And after E65 7er and E85 Z4 were introduced, both Bangle & van Hooydonk said the next generation of BMW designs would be more about evolution & refinement, with more coherence, precision and fluency. And that was already considered as an indication more "toned-down" were on the way. Btw, to get a bit of insight into design process just check this "Making of 5er GT" video: |

Don't like it at all, I think it looks hideous.
The new 5 series looks absolutely gorgeous This new 6 series concept looks absolutely hideous What's the difference between the two? If you can explicitly describe in words the difference between these two designs, it'd go a long way in helping BMW shape the future "look" of their vehicles. I think certain areas of the 6 series coupe taken in isolation look nice and "sleek" and mean, but taken together as a whole it looks just hideous. If you saw nothing but one of the rear tail lights up close, you might think "damn this car looks like it could be pretty sick if the body lines flow well with the design of the tail light" but nope, it doesn't actually pan out that way. |
