-6F Feels like -25F I have been delaying heading out for my run. I'm supposed to run 75 minutes easy and I have been sitting here putting it off until it gets to -3F at noon lol. Still better than running on the treadmill, which my wife will be using anyway. A couple more days of this, then temperatures normalize. It is January in the upper midwest after all.

Clear and cold in Kerrville Texas on a Sunday night.
I adjusted the camera to see the deer walking on the golf course.

Happy snow day! In the middle of a blizzard right now. We managed a couple of house calls yesterday and phone consultations. Everyone stays home and safe and off the roads.

It's 9 F-rozen degrees outside this morning, with about 8 inches of snow total from yesterday and last night. The stuff will be around for a while, since the temps won't break freezing all week.....

The deep freeze has spared the Pacific Northwest again, although I saw 21F yesterday morning.

Santa Ana winds are back. Winds NE at 25 to 35 mph. Winds could occasionally gust over 50 mph. Hope the people in L.A. will be okay. I hear there is still some fire out there.

I'm all for steady temps, but couldn't we make it a bit warmer?

Normally, I wouldn't comment on this thread when the temperature outside is in the low 40s a night. Not very cold compared to places with real weather.
However, our furnace went out 4 days ago and the HVAC guy cannot replace it until Thursday. It's 53 degrees in house right now. We are doing fine with gloves, jackets and electric blankets when we are home and visiting friends and going to dinner and movies just to be in heat! Burrrrr. |

I was just jarred out of my slumber by a frost quake outside, which is amplified by our back deck like someone beating on a huge drum. It happens here regularly as the thermometer reaches 0 F.
Speaking of which, it is +0.7 F outside right now, with the low forecast to be -2 F.....

Brrrrrrrrr! Have I told you guys lately how much I hate winter?
How the hell did we survive before heated seats and steering wheels? Do you remember how cold those old hard plastic steering wheels got in the winter? I saw parts of LA are supposed to get 8 inches of snow. Do they even have snow plows down there?

Same, -5F, -20C again this morning.
The car made all kinds of angry noises but eventually warmed up. At these temps, driving on a bit of snow makes a sound similar to nails on a chalkboard, I hate it. At least the HVAC, seats, steering wheel work quick in the small 2 series. |
