Oh boy. Aliens has been my favorite movie since I first saw it in theaters. I will argue to the grave with anyone that it is the best sci-fi movie of all time by a mile. However, I don’t think anyone can deny it’s been all downhill for the franchise since then. Will this new one bring back some magic? Hope springs eternal, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

We do see a pulse rifle however.

Yep! I haven’t read too much on it, but maybe it’s about those “dumbass colonists” on LV-426.

My favorite films are The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

I have been a fan since a child of the books and the movies (although modified from the book) are probably the best adaption of all time.

I collect all the weapons and armor from the films and have an extensive collection of special custom pieces.

Anyone else have LOTR up there at the top?

Absolutely ME!!! Of all the movies I have watched in my lifetime, the LOTR Trilogy is at the top of my list. Are you aware of the upcoming films from the LOTR Universe? Also the amazing series on Amazon.

Cameron himself after screening the movie calls it, "F****** Great!"

The memorable quotes from Aliens are basically never ending. It was also a master class in having a diverse cast of actors, including a female hero, without making it looked forced or that an agenda was at play. You believed Vasquez was a badass. You believed Ripley was an absolute unit. Man do I miss 80s action cinema!

I'm with you. Loved the first one (one of my favorites, if not my favorite movie) and I hope this one will be good. Trailer looks good and my fingers are crossed.

Ya, the burn heard around the galaxy lol. I dunno if there's anything that could top that one.

Trudat re masterclass.

Yup, that Vasquez actress is quite feminine irl, she did an amazing job butching it up in that film.

She's Jenette Goldstein and she's been in some good movies. A few other good movies she's been in besides Aliens are Terminator 2, Near Dark (a favorite), and Lethal Weapon 2.

Here's a favorite scene of mine with her in T2:

Heh. I just gave my nephew all three LOTR DVD's today. I was "thinning out the herd".

I was never a huge fan of the movies-- but I could hold my own on the books. I wore more than one box set of paperbacks out in the '70's-'80's and still have a leather-bound copy of LOTR on my bookshelf.

I didn't love the movies either but really enjoyed the book "The Hobbit" and read it several times in the 70s when I was a young adult. Also read "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy books.

Yes. I am aware of the 2 films that Jackson is producing - One is titled The Hunt for Gollum - other one is yet to be named. At least Weta and NZ will be involved in these. And with Andy Serkis directing, I think they will be decent.

Amazon - Rings of Power I watched about 15 minutes of it before I threw in the towel. Way too much liberties taken with established lore for me. Not interested in the show - maybe its decent fan fiction. It did have nice visuals and effects but that was it for me.
