M6 Vert Delivery Delayed
I am so disappointed! The EPA put a hold on the car. They are saying that it will not be delivered until this coming weekend at the earliest. I think there were eight others on this boat as well. All on hold in processing waiting for the State and EPA to release.

I used to use rally till I ordered a car for them and three months later the wrong model came.
I ordered a 750I, but a 750LI came. What pissed me off though was that when they called they told me they have good news, their exact words were "were gonna do YOU a FAVOR and give you the LI for the price of the I." Thats when I flipped out, instead of apologizing they acted as if the reason I didnt order the LI was cause I couldnt afford it and they were helping me out. |

Placed order for 2014 M6 Coupe (Alpine White & Sakhir Orange Full Merino Leather
Hello everyone.
I am a new member of Bimmerpost. I live in northern NJ and have been trying to decide between selecting either a 2014 M6 Coupe or a 2014 650 xDrive Coupe to serve as my next daily driver. The practical and cost saving choice is clearly the 650 xDrive Coupe, but once you test drive the M6 like I did, it really does put you in a different dimension and state of mind, as well as a silly grin on my face. I spend about 2 ½ hours a day, M-F in my car commuting so I want to have a nice car and interior environment to enjoy during this time on the road. Either vehicle would fulfill that requirement, but I do prefer the subtle body modifications of the M6, especially the rear end treatment, compared to the 650 Coupe with the M Sport Package. The black diffuser on the lower bumper area around the exhaust pipes, (on models with the M-Package), is not attractive or appealing to me aesthetic tastes and I understand why some owners have gone to the effort to have his 650 Coupe's rear diffuser painted to match the body color, (which is a major improvement). Both vehicles have excellent performance and are very quick in 0-60 mph. But the sound, g-force and pure exhilaration fun of driving the M6 is a real game changer for me. Ultimately, the powerful engine in the M6 and its glorious exhaust burble sound is music to my ears and convinced me to go that route... Luckily, I have a 2007 Mercedes-Benz ML63 AMG that has served wonderfully as our weekend and long road trip / vacation vehicle. It has all-wheel drive and I put winter snow tires (Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow 295/40R 20 XL's ) on in early Dec. and have them swapped with my summer performance tires at the end of March. Therefore, I can use this vehicle when snow is forecasted or on the roads, leaving the BMW at home. For extra "insurance" I will most likely also purchase a set of 4 Winter/Snow tires for the M6 for the same 4-month winter season as on the ML63. So at the end of March, I pulled the trigger and placed an order for a 2014 BMW M6 Coupe with the following specs and options: • Alpine White Paint • Sakhir Orange Full Merino Leather • Executive Package • Driver Assistance Package • Bang & Olufsen Sound System • 20" M light alloy wheels The only differences between the 2013 and 2014 models, is a slight base price increase to the 2014's and adding ventilated seats to the Executive Package and reducing its total price. Also, the 2014's will have the upgraded iDrive and possibly an enhanced internet connection through BMW Assist; (this last one is not really clear to me yet....) I will be leasing this vehicle for 36 months at 15,000 miles per year through BMW Financial Services. At the time I placed my order the only BMWUSA provided financial incentives available for this vehicle was the $750 BMW Owner's Loyalty Cash. Like a number of posters in this forum, over the past 5 months I did my research. I visited multiple BMW Dealers in our region, test drove both vehicles, checked out M6's and 650's with various paint/leather color schemes and have read many interesting posts on various threads on Bimmerpost and Bimmerfest. I was able to get a good and fair, (win/win) deal with a local BMW Dealer agreeing to an approx. $1,000 over the invoice cost of the vehicle. All in all, it was a pleasant and enjoyable experience for an auto enthusiast like me…......... As most NJ drivers are aware, the conditions of our highways are improving but still not in as good condition as those in southern climates that are not exposed to de-icing road salts spread by most municipal DPW's trucks. Our secondary roads are fair at best with horrific pot holes and ruts appearing about this time of year that can be bone jarring and wheel denting experiences. With this in mind, I will also purchase a Wheel and Tire Protection Program (insurance) for this vehicle for peace of mind when a road hazard causes damage. Finally, from my reading about the experiences of others in this and other BMW forums, I have signed up to take a one-day BMW Performance Driving School followed the next day with a 1-day M-School, both down in Spartanburg, SC. On the third day I will then take delivery of my new M6 at the BMW Performance Delivery Center. I figure I will certainly enjoy learning firsthand about this vehicle's capacities on a track after having some knowledgeable instruction, using someone else's M6 , tires and gas. This will be followed by a leisurely (yeah right…........ ), drive back to NJ through the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia and PA, avoiding the monotony of I-95. Once I have the vehicle I will post some photos here. Until then, I also want to say that I appreciate reading all of your posts on various questions, traits and nuances regarding the M6. They have been most informative as well as entertaining…........ I hope to add my "voice" to your ongoing conversations in Bimmerpost. Cheers! __________________ AVB-AMG |

Delivery Status Update
I learned yesterday from my CA that my new 2014 M6 Coupe is scheduled to arrive at the Port of Charleston (SC) on 5/10. Once it clears US Customs it will be trucked to the BMW Performance Delivery Ctr. outside of Spartanburg, SC where I will take delivery at the end of the first week of June.
The anticipation and excitement is building on my end.....

My New 2014 M6 Coupe - BMW Performance Center Delivery
Here is my description of my 3 days at the BMW Performance Driving Center along with the delivery of my new 2014 M6 Coupe:
Hey everyone, I have finally arrived home in NJ after driving back from South Carolina through NC, VA, MD, WV and PA last weekend. As I had indicated in previous posts on other threads, I planned to do the following over three consecutive days at the BMW Performance Center in Spartanburg and Greer, South Carolina, which I finally did last week: Day 1 - One-Day BMW Performance Driving School The program taught professional driving theory, including proper seat & mirror adjustment, accident avoidance maneuvers, panic breaking on wet and dry surfaces and ideal cornering skills. This was followed by hands-on practice driving BMW 1 & 3 Series on the track that included ultra slick skid pad, slalom course, and a timed autocross circuit. The Instructors communicated with all of us via a 2-way radio in each car. The day with beautiful weather, concluded with a really fast and exciting "hot lap" rice in an M3 coupe around the track to show us what a professional race-trained driver can really accomplish with these vehicles. Day 2 - One Day M School We repeated many of the classroom instruction and driving course exercises learned the day before and described above, but this time driving solo, at much higher speeds in completely factory stock 2013 M3's, M5's and M6's. The day was spent learning and practicing aggressive, high performance driving skills and techniques. The weather on this day was initially dry then torrential rain later, before clearing. Practicing driving fast on both a dry and a rain soaked track taught us about the capabilities and limits of these vehicles, as well as ourselves. Paper certificates and hats were awarded to each of us at the end of both days. Day 3 – BMW Performance Center Delivery Program The prior two days really got me primed and ready to take delivery of my new 2014 BMW M6 Coupe. The day started with an abbreviated summary of classroom review of what was taught in more depth the prior two days. Then all of us who were taking delivery of a new BMWs that day were given the same BMW model as we were getting, to drive around the course and were encouraged to do so in a very "spirited" fashion, while listening to the Instructors comments on how we could improve our performance. This added exposure driving "someone elses" M6, using their tires, brakes, etc….. really allowed me to do things with this vehicle that I would be very reluctant to do to with my car. Ultimately, I now know most of the limits of the M6 as well as where my newly elevated comfort factor is in driving it. I had intentionally wanted to spend these two and a half days to receive instruction from professionals, then repeatedly practice driving so I could really learn how this car performs and how to improve my driving skills while driving it. This process "demystified" my curiosity of the car's performance capabilities so I am now far less inclined to do something really juvenile on public roadways…... (well, that is the intention…...) After lunch, which was quite good, provided by BMW each day in their central cafeteria area surrounding all of the very contemporary classrooms, each of us were directed to multiple BMW X5's to drive over their all-terrain course to experience how capable these vehicles really are in handling off-road conditions. Considering that the vast majority of X5 Owners extent of off-roading is driving onto to gravel driveway, this was a real eye-opener. After traversing this course we drove over to the BMW Zentrum Visitors Center and Museum for a very fascinating and educational tour. Finally, back at the Performance Delivery Center, I was ushered to the sleek bay where I finally saw my new car. I configured my 2014 M6 Coupe to be Alpine White exterior and Sakhir Orange Full Leather interior. I also selected the following factory installed options: Driver Assistance Package; Executive Package, 20" M Light Alloy Wheels; and Bang & Olufsen Sound System. Seeing the car for the first time is truly worth waiting for with a real euphoric rush of excitement, a feeling that most of us remember as a young child on their birthday or Christmas morning…... A BMW delivery specialist who was very knowledgeable about the vehicle guided me through a very thorough introductory review of all of the car's features and controls, as well as activating my Assist and SiriusXM satellite radio and installing my previously purchased iPhone cradle, as well as affixing my temporary license plate and state inspection sticker and E-ZPass electronic toll collector transmitter. Once all of this was completed, I loaded my luggage into the trunk and drove back over to the BMW Zentrum for a short photo shoot of the car with the dramatic architecture of the entrance to the museum in the background.

M6 Driving Impressions.....
So far, it is an absolute blast....!
I have driven my M6 on dry roads and through torrential rain downpours and it hugs the road wonderfully. The up-to-date electronic features are dazzling and I really do prefer the latest BMW's iDrive by comparison to the current M-B Command System. The iDrive is more intuitive and I personally prefer its screen graphics and interface. The M6 is a large car. The view over the long hood emphasizes that fact and the car does ride low, so that when I am parking anywhere there may be some form of raised concrete wheel barrier at the front of the parking spot, I am very cautious inching forward to it so I do not hit it or scrape my front spoiler/bumper. Also the drivers seating position is very low, as it should be, so it does take getting used to coming from my M-B ML63 AMG where I sit quite high with a commanding view of the road. I find that I am intentionally lowering the windows so I can hear that wonderful baritone / guttural engine exhaust sound as I back out of my driveway and proceed forward. It really does put a smile on my face, which essentially is the whole idea of purchasing a performance vehicle like this.

Congrats, I would have ordered the B&O just because of the LED lighting had I known. They should tell customers these kinds of things.
