Now, after a few holsters, I have found I love it and this is all I do. Only took about 2 weeks to get completely comfortable with it and the time I accidentally drove 3 hours with it in place without realizing it - I knew I found my spot.

Has all the advantages you described as well. Harder for someone to get away from me. I'm not checking my shirt tail 27 times a minute to make sure it is covered. etc.

But I have lost enough weight over the years to make this an option - I could understand where it would not be for all people.

Mine carry gun goes on top of my wallet in the drawer each night and back on my belt each morning with my wallet into my pocket. I will also say - a good carry belt helps a LOT too. I was given a KORE EDC belt for my birthday. I thought it would be too heavy to wear each day, but I fit it anyway and wore it once and have worn nothing else since. Have a lot of stiffness and will not sag at all. Perfect carry belt and great normal belt as well.
Im in the same boat as you. I started out with an aliengear holster carrying at 5:00 i decided to get a cheap appendix carry holster to try it and ended up loving it. Much easier conceals just as well and i prefer the location for drawing

For those of you that EDC, after being out-and-about, what's the routine when you get home? Wallet, keys, phone, gun, etc. go in the same pile?

Do you unload, decock, etc.? Or does it always stay ready to go with one in the pipe?

I'm assuming that most every holster has the trigger guard/surrounding area fully enclosed to prevent accidental discharge, correct?

Never unload. Eventually that one or two rounds you keep loaded and unloaded will suffer bullet setback.

I always keep it in the holster. When I go to bed, it all goes in the same pile. I actually keep my gun and phone on me while at home.

Keys and wallet usually stay on me until i go upstairs but ill take my holster and gun off. I appendix carry so i usually just unclip the whole thing and set it down near me. Ill take it upstairs when i go(i dont have kids in my house so no worries)

Only time i unload is if im cleaning or practicing. Stays cocked and locked.

Any holster worth s damn covers the trigger.

For wearing it backwards I would choose a pancake holster which could be clipped flipped onto the back of my trouser. The problem with hardcover holsters when worn inwards are always the form. A pure nylon holster is more comfortable but for me no match, because my SIG is way too big, so I am wearing a normal cop holster ccw at my right side. Hence I have mostly longer shirts or jackets its no problem.
For drawing...well...a situation that I have to draw my gun would never unfolding quickly, so I would ever have enough time to get a grip.

Yes, SAME routine for keys, wallets, firearm, flashlight, pocket knife, etc.

Never unloaded unless for cleaning... Always ready for use... That's the purpose after all... in case of need - be ready!

Most who EDC have a fair investment ($) in their equipment, effort, time, etc...
Honestly, if you don't, you shouldn't be carrying IMHO.

Quality tool to do the job!
Quality belt to carry the tool!
Quality holster to protect the investment!
Quality training for efficient performance!

Without any ONE of the four above mentioned Qualities in place...
You're sub-par at best, and should consider what your doing and why you're doing it.

My $.02 anyway.

If you want a nice "cheek rest" for the pistol build, check out the Thordsen or a Sigbrace. I have a Thordsen on my 7.5.

Funny, that you ask this in relation to time of accidental discharge. My uncle, who is a detective, (I'd also like to add that none of my family acknowledges him as family - this is only being done for story sake) arrives home from work last week. His routine is that he carries his service weapon in his shoulder holder until he gets home. Before exiting his car, he places his service weapon in his EDC bag then enters the house. Last week, he goes to remove his service weapon from his shoulder holster and the weapon discharges while he is sitting upright in his car. Entrance wound on left side, just below the holster, exit wound just above left hip, entrance wound top of left thigh, exit wound underside of left leg just below the butt. Two entrance and two exit wounds with a single .45 round. Unsure as to how the weapon discharged aside from general knowledge of trigger being engaged; these details were left out.

I'll look into some of those type of holsters and hopefully try one on, but I dunno, I really like the idea of it being located anteriorly for some reason. I can't really explain why, but in theory, it just seems like more of a natural 'grab' if something were to arise.
Those are mine two for ccw. The big one for the SIG is only for wearing sideways but with two security locks, the smaller one is an Orpaz for the Glock with a big paddle onto it, the plate allows to change the paddle to an wide-adjustable belt-through window, only one tip lock.

Bored as hell and decided to visit some nurseries (seems I've developed a jones for planting cacti in my yard) and the two laughers gun stores out of curiosity.

Well no new cacti. But major shock in the gun stores. They were practically stripped bare of inventory. Wow. Both were well stocked 2 months ago and now good luck finding basic self defense guns.

One had a very nice Daniel Defense AR15 - for $2500. And no it wasn't marked up for the current run. They do cost that. It was the only semi-auto AR style rifle there. I asked why it was still hanging around and thought they would say it was too high end. Nope. They just got it and put it on the wall that morning. He expects to sell it within a day.

Sorry if this is off topic. I didn't want to start a whole new thread about this and wanted to share.
