F13 M6 creaking noise
my newly aquired M6 seems to have developed a noise that is driving me nuts. Everytime I'm starting to move from a stop, either in reverse or forrward. I was able to have my friend move the car while i stood outside by the driver's side door to listen to it and it seems to be coming from the rear driver's side wheel area. Sounds like a suspension related problem.
Hopefully someby has some input as what it could be. I've recorded a video to help understand what kind of noise it is. |

If it is not a rock between the brake disk and the splash shield, it could be the outer constant velocity joint of the half shaft or the wheel bearing. It is difficult to make out exactly from the video sound. (these are just some probable causes of that type of noise in that area)

I've been going nuts trying to figure it out. It almost sounds like a dry rubber bushing moving inside a metal bracket or 2 plastic panels that are tight rubbing together. At first I thought the side skirt was rubbing againt the rear quarter for some reason but after investigating it was coming from behind the wheel.

Little update in case someone runs into a similar issue. I inspected the car and found a bolt missing in the brace that sits in front of the rear subframe and another from the drivers side muffler hanger. Replaced bolts and noise is gone.

I’ve started having this same noise coming from my right rear wheel well. It only makes a noise when starting from a dead stop at about 3 to 4 mph. At first, I thought it was the differential or something with the clutch. But there’s no other symptoms that it would be either.
