Installed mine a few days ago - Start up configuration is pretty cool. Fit and finish is good. Had to code to LED tails but I was looking for an excuse to get bimmercode anyway. Only issue I am having is that when the brake lights illuminate (red), the turn signals also illuminate (amber). If the turns were red, really wouldn't be an issue but since they are amber, kind of looks like a mistake. Thinking it may also be illegal where I'm at as brake lights have to be red. I have an email into Bavgruppe to see if there is coding that can remedy this or if it was intentional for some reason. Kind of reminds me of a Hooptie with and electrical problem.

Answer from Bavgruppe:
"We’ve noticed some of the cars have this, it seems to be a small surge in voltage that is triggering the signals as they work off of the same wire as the brakes. We’re going to be making an adapter plug and send it out to those that have experienced this. I think we will be done with it within the next two weeks." I'll give them a few weeks for a solution, but the reasoning does not make complete sense.

Can anybody chime in that has had success with these being plug and play? Anything to do with pre-LCI vs LCI? Also did you guys receive an error code right away after install that lead you to have to code them? Thanks in advance for the help.

Is there a member that has had these work with just coding or do we all have the issue with the turn signal/brake lights?

So I spoke with Tom from Bavgruppe. Apparently we have a unique feature on our cars that they didn't predict would affect the way that the aftermarket tail lights would function - Our brake light and our indicators actually share the same light. It just blinks when you use your turn signals This is why when you brake with the GTS tails the indicators come on. They're just in a different location on these lights. They are creating an adapter to modify the behavior and it should be ready in a week or two! |

Same thing they told me a month ago. I already had to pull them out to pass safety inspection. Going forward, they should just delete the amber bulbs and make them all red. Wouldn't be an issue or illegal that way in the U.S. Not sure if Europe still requires them to be amber.

It seems these lights still have some work to do before they are useable. Ill wait for future generations when they’ve perfected them. They are gorgeous though!

from Bavgruppe today:
" Well, yes. We found out during testing that this is actually normal behavior for the tail lights on your vehicle, and on every vehicle based in the United States, and not a taillight defect. All 6 series turn signals double as brake signals, not sure why not a single owner noticed it but we tested a couple of stock vehicles and they did exactly that. Now that we know this, we finished the testing on the vehicles and have a second set of plugs being sent to us, they’ll arrive sometime next week, to accommodate owners wishes to turn off that portion of the stock behavior. We also need to bring a car in to do some testing with ISTA (a coding platform) to see if we can shut off the stock portion of the coding that makes the turn signals turn on, but again, it’s not a defect. We have one of the cars that we use for the initial testing coming in to get a different color set of tail light so we will test the plug on his car and also do the ISTA coding. " I'm guessing the new harness will delete the brake light function from the turn signal portion. Saga continues ...
