When I was stationed in Italy in the 90s, the first week I was there I bought an 81 E28 318 for $500. Replaced the carburetor on it. Once the throttle line snapped on me and ended up driving it with a coat hanger to get it home.

A brand-new E34 M5, in One Lap of America. That'll spoil you in a hurry.
Shortly thereafter (unrelated to driving that wonderful beast) I leased an E36 325is. |

Briefly drove an E39 540i with a six speed manual a couple of times about a decade ago. Unfortunately I had just started driving and wasn't as good with a clutch as I am now, so I only drove it very moderately. Didn't have a chance to drive another BMW until I got my 328i.

A 2004 E46 M3 that my dad had. I never looked back and am now the proud owner of an E92 M3.

First BMW I ever drove and owned was a 2005 E46 M3.
It was an awesome car, and I really wish I could of kept it.

E46 M3s are the only car's I've ever owned, trying to find a replacement is doing my head in right now with prices so high.
I briefly had an E60 M5 when a friend lost his licence, loved that car but I don't want to own another 10+ old ///M car. I want something newer, but Stockholm syndrome is hard set now and the newer cars from BMW don't appeal me. M240i xdrive is very appealing but the price isn't for what it is. |

First was an E31 850CSi which lead me to E63 M6 and my current F13 M6. I don't think I'll ever sell my E31 or my F13.
However I've driven a bunch of M cars (everything apart from the M1, E30 M3 and E28 M5) and all I'd really be interested in experiencing is an E38 L7 and a Z4M (I've driven plenty of S54 engined cars, even E30 and E36 swaps)

Either a '74 R90/6 or a circa 1992 K75, within a few days of each other.
Oh, wait, you mean a Bimmer, not a Beemer? :-) I think it was a friend's E28 535i. The first one I was a passenger in, was a 2002tii.
