Here's an idea- instead making heavy vehicles try to dance on the road like their cars, how about making their SUV's try to chase Raptors instead? Or out-climb a Jeep or Land Rover?

That’s basically what the X7 is already, at a glance this looks a bit longer

I do wonder whether it will be like an X6 where its heavily based off the equivalent "regular body" SUV based on how big it looks or whether this will be more like a bespoke design/model?

I believe it's the North American region that has postponed the 2021 model year. Anyway here is the first stand-alone BMW M model. The XM. If you think that it's a ridiculous idea -Mercedes-AMG are also planning an AMG based stand alone SUV. As are Porsche with a Taycan-type SUV. It's a big market and lucrative for Peformance manufacturers to plunder. Especially when offered with electrification options. It's form is more like a larger X2 rather than the Coupe outlines of X4 and X6. The XM will be available as a four seater as well as the typical five seater.

Those taillight clusters really protrude from the body of the car, and if you notice the edge that flows back into the body panel aligns perfectly to the swollen hips in the rear.
Also, the headlight clusters look really low in the front of the test car. I've noticed this as well on the next 7 series test mules, which I believe is the car sitting next to the XM. This has a kinda has a boxy Rolls Royce vibe to me, how much you wanna bet BMW spins this off into a Wraith derivative SUV.

Well they do resemble Refrigerators so FLA. makes sense. BMW could NEVER make a poor decision, absolutely correct.

This particular car is a PHEV, you can see the plug in hole on the front fender and the gas tank hole on the other side at the rear.
My theory looking at the roof line here is that BMW only make 3 row X7 versions, so this is a 2 row X7 with slightly different body styling and PHEV options at that sort of price point - but with a bit of an increase just like X3 -> X4 and X5 -> X6. The mule looks like what the X1 is to the X2, but the X7 and X8 version. So same overall chassis with different styling for an overall sportier experience (plus of course PHEV and 2 row)
