Evolve posted a video awhile back on upgrading the charge coolers on an M6 and it did produce tangible results.

Thanx for the video @AlpineKing_M6GC.
I don't think 2 or 3 degrees justify the cost + Meth is involved. Not sure if I am ready to use meth. Did anyone test the other two intercoolers? CSF claims 28% increase in size against OEM while VRSF 50%, is bigger better in this case? |

Which did end up going with the CSF Intercoolers? Also would you mind sharing some pics of your meth setup? Im about to reinstall my system as well on my vsrf intercoolers and I'm looking for neater installs.

I haven't spent the time to really dig in to the answer on this, but I have my guesses... Why is no one looking at the radiator side of the equation? If you increase the heat transfer on the cooler side, you still need to dump it to the air somewhere or all you are doing is heating the coolant... I suspect that BMW did not oversize the radiators just for fun, and so there isn't going to be a tremendous amount of excess capacity to make larger coolers actually do anything (other than maybe short term coolant temp increases).
To me the answer here is methanol. I ran methanol injection on my supercharged Corvette motor with great success. Downside is this is really only a "street" or drag race solution as at some point on a road course or extended race you are going to run out of the stuff with very negative results. I wouldn't even contemplate new charge coolers on the M6 unless you are approaching air flow limits and they are capping raw power potential because of pressure drops, cooling isn't going to get much better. |

Controller is by Torqbyte (CM5 - LTS) , BMS pump & Aquamist nozzles. Bm3 Stage 2 93OCT Datalog with WMI https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5f1e...729b74ba722514 Will share some pics after work. Update Here are some photo of my setup. I installed the controller, pump & tank in the trunk. Moved the wires & hose from the trunk to front of the engine. I tapped into the manifold pressure sensor rather than the throttle body pressure sensor, the only advantage is usually when you shift or release the throttle TMAP overboost (in my case 30+ PSI) while the throttle is almost close causing the controller to continue signalling the pump to spray. Another update I just purchased VRSF Intercoolers, sadly its backorder (10/15) but I will keep you all posted once it arrive.
Will be spraying meth after the intercoolers and see how much IAT will drop in a 50°C (122°F) ambient & 26°C (78.8°F) during winter. |

Please keep this thread posted on how you like the VRSF intercoolers. Spoke with a M5 owner who has them installed and he did see improvements in IAT's but he said it was not a direct OEM replacement as it required some modifying. Maybe this is something they're fixing while its on back order? I'll probably still get them either way.

After doing extensive research, I figure out that it will be tight-fitting as the aftermarket intercoolers are bit bigger in size & you need to change the bolts holding the throttle body to the intercooler (OEM one's won't work) I truly hope if there is an issue they fix it before starting distribution. |

Unfortunately VRSF kept changing the availability date. So I decided to take it to a different route. I would like to thank Golan from AutoTalent & my buddy Aliendex for his brilliant ideas and support.
Here is what I have ended up with since i am not pushing above 22PSI. |

I was spraying at the chargepipe (barely change in IAT) now im spraying before the TBs. Ambient temps are in F and IAT in C
54C = 129.2F 37C = 98.6F Ambient = 83F Last edited by M6Roar; 11-17-2020 at 08:28 AM.. |

That is a much more expected drop in temp vs what you were seeing before, but I don't know why before vs after the charge coolers should make a difference. Are you spraying more volume now?

Because we have air to water coolers, when I used to spray in the chargepipe it goes through the A2W coolers and it heats up the charge air again.

That would only be the case if the charge coolers were heat soaked and greater than ambient? charge cooler coolant and core temps should be at or slightly above ambient under normal circumstances. I still think there was something wrong with your prior setup (not just spraying before vs after).
