Vertical Steering Wheel Play
Has anyone experienced a fair amount of vertical play in the steering wheel/tilt function? I took a YouTube vid:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWeoDkj8qIg It adjusts absolutely fine, it just doesn't seem to completely "lock" once adjusted and in-place. Thoughts? |

Yea, it's extremely odd and I haven't noticed it at all until this morning. It looks exaggerated in the video as I'm using a fair amount of force to pull the steering wheel down and move it around - BUT - it's still concerning and obviously shouldn't be happening. I was wondering if anyone had experienced it before more than anything.

Hahaha yes, it's definitely not normal. I was checking to see if anyone had experienced it before and knew exactly what was going on is all. Either way, thanks for the input everyone. I'll be taking things apart tomorrow to see what's going on.

I tried mine today with quite some force and there is absolutely no play at all. Should be solid like it's welded.

I looked at the steering column on realoem.com and I'm thinking one or both #2 bolts fell out somehow given where (and how) it's moving: I won't know for sure until I take things apart but it seems like that could be the case. |

forgot to update this...
...it's nice when you're right, though, i have no idea how the issue came about. regarding the two bolts i purchased in the diagram above (#2) - one was loose, the other was gone. tightened the existing, put in one of the two i purchased, and no more issue. might go back in and loctite them for peace of mind, too. |
