I’ve got a set of F10 M5 wheels and I’m going to try the rear 20x10 wheels at the front and experiment with the sizes. I’m well aware wider tyres on the same width will reduce feel and precision but of course the 20x10 will reverse that with 273/35r20. The 285/30r20 also has a shorter sidewalk which should create a similar feel even though they are a bit wider.

I've gone 275s in the front and to compensate, added some toe out as well to front. The car corners on rails, and yes, i've tracked it, not on street speeds. I highly recommend 275 front

Hope you guys are right!
I’m getting a fresh set of MP4S tomorrow and I went with the 305’s in the rear and the 275’s up front! I am considering lowering my M6 GC a bit, should I be concerned with rubbing? |

They feel awesome! I’m totally impressed!
To be honest, they stick so well that the car now feels under powered, lol The Pirellis used to slip all over the place, but the MP4S have this car glued down! |

Can I run a 265 35 20 Michelin 4S front with a 305 30 20 Michelin Cup 2 without handling/ABS/TCS problems?
The 305 rear is 27.2" compared to 27.0 for the 295. The car came with 295 Michelin Super Sports and Pirelli in the front and the car is a true pain to drive. Handling is the worst of any BMW I have ever driven. No stability at all. No hook up. Not planted on the road. It is all over the place. Is the core problem the mixture of Pirelli in the front and Michelin in the rear or do I have a blown shock? I would hate to buy new Michelins and still have the same issue. Another thing is that I get no TPMS data in i-Drive. Does that mean the batteries in the sensors are dead? No errors or warnings showing. Thank you. |

With the F8x cars they have taller rear tyres stock by about 0.5” and apparently if you run tyres that are closer to even in height the traction control becomes quite intrusive. I haven’t had the chance to try PS4S in 295 vs 305 but the taller tyre may provide you with a less intrusion from the traction control. I guess this issue might be a bit more magnified if your Pirellis have a lot of tread on them and the Michelin’s are best the end of their life |

Good thread about tires! For those that want some perspective on how PS4s's handle on track. I've done about 3 trackdays on em ; wear is excellent. Tires have about 15000 miles, mostly street and twisties. Grip is phenomenal in any conditions, once above 90F.
At the track, https://ibb.co/2cTKnXQ these were the temps after 4-5 laps. Warm up is great, the tire feel is phenomenal, grip is fantastic, very predictable. BUT, after 4-5 laps of getting on it, the tires do get a bit greasy. Still predictable, but grip does fall off. So if you're hammering on it it will get greasy ! I think this is were CUP2's will make a massive difference, of course, at the detriment of longevity. So for ocassional trackdays, and daily driving with phenomenal grip, handling and wear, PS4s's are the shizz. I am however very curious to try out Cup 2's, so thats next tire for sure! This happened to a fresh set of Cup 2s after 2 sessions at Barber. The sidewalls just aren't stiff enough and they can't handle the weight. Switched to R888 and am super happy, except that they are loud.

You need quite a bit more camber with those I suspect the outside edge on the R888s will also wear (but slower perhaps)

After being in the tire industry for a certain amount of time, I can concur. Michelin or bust. I don't understand why people will opt in to purchasing a set of P-Zeros over Michelin PS4S or PSC2 tires, besides it being the "OEM option".
