What is really interesting is the friction marks on the side of the rod caps... as if there is insufficient side clearance when they experience thermal expansion. Can't wait to see if this becomes a common issue like that seen in the S54, S65, and S85 engines.

I would contact tuner and ask them to look at engine. Warranty only void if they can prove that tuning caused the issue. If this was a manufacturing defect, tuning becomes less of an issue (most states have comparative negligence standard, which means that if tuning accelerated the engine's demise by 25%, then BMW is liable for only 75% of the claim.

Can you elaborate on this? Did you tell them it was tuned? What other mods did you bring it in with?

2 of those bearings look really bad. The others show wear you would normally seen in a higher mileage motor

I highly doubt it's a tuning issue. It's either:
1. Poor clearance design by BMW, similar to the tight clearances in the S85/65
2. Incorrect oil
3. Poor cold start driving habits

Or a combo of all 3

What oil were you using? And what is your typical cold start driving habit?

Not sure what kind of tuning , bought the car then took to Bmw for the noise they stated this car has been tuned and they went a head and voided the warranty on the engine

Could be , the oil was changed regularly by Bmw dealership according to Carfax and Bmw record . The car has only 13k miles

Ok that’s not good for the engine but still should not have done that to the bearings. Typically you should start the car and then drive without warming it up, just don’t get on it until it’s warmed up. I would hire a lawyer and approach BMW North America about this.

How come that issue wasn't resolved on the V10 engine when they updated the LCI in 2007? They just let the engine remain faulty for the rest of its life until 2010...

I don’t own one yet but on my old m3 you couldn’t beat on it until it was warmed up the tach would read the allowable rpm depending on the oil temp, does the M 6 have this ?
Plus he said tune and muffler delete,I wouldn’t think an exhaust system can void warranty

You mean correct something and admit fault? BMW has never taken responsibility for any bearing clearance issues from what I can tell. Unfortunately the OP will go broke trying to get a judgment against BMW, especially with a tune (regardless of what others are saying). Much cheaper to just have a reputable engine builder check the clearances, blueprint the crank if necessary and replace the bearings.

10 minutes of idle sounds excessive and won't get oil up to temp much quicker than regular driving. I highly doubt he does it every time too.

Best is to just keep RPMs below 3000 until oil heats up to 200 degrees

I mean come on a $140k car should at least be solid enough the first 50k miles regardless of the warm up .this is an M6 not a corolla where we have to watch the oil temp every time we start the car
