Not GF shaming, but how ugly is she that you can leave her on the sidewalk before/after drinks and find her still there when you get back?????

OP it's a car. If it's going to be your daily driver you're going to have to treat it as such at some point.

With that said you can pick your battles. I only valet in places that I frequent and have established a relationship with some of the valets. They know they will get $20 up front and $20 when they bring it. I may not always be front line but I can always see them park and see them bring it.

The other 90% of the time I take Uber SUV because of drinking etc.

I can't say how many times I've been to my local mall and seen abusive driving towards customer cars. They really drive the car hard and the parking spot isn't even that far from the drop off area. I already told myself when it comes time to get my M I'm gonna treat it like a baby. So that means when I do valet driving I'm gonna ask them to kindly put it in the front and watch them because it's sad and poor customer service.
Stick with a civilian model. Buy the M to drive the crap out of it. If you mollycoddle it, you have wasted your time and money.

Park it yourself. The only cars I valet are the X5 and the Fusion. I park the rest myself.

While I love my car and care for it, I don't baby it to the point that it impedes my life. If it's easy enough to park it myself, great. In a place like NYC where all garages are valet, I'm not spending an extra 40 minutes driving around for a spot just so no one else touches it. I got a nice car to enjoy it, so what's the point if I'm making my life less enjoyable? God forbid another driver accelerate as quickly as I would.

It's my daily, and I'm happy to let friends drive it on occasion.
But I try to avoid the valets.

A couple months ago, I had no choice.
Accidentally left the key in my pocket (have CA and rarely put it in the slot.)
He couldn't close the top or restart it.
Luckily the lot was close enough he was able to park!

The most obnoxious thing I've ever seen are situations where a restaurant has its own, private, adjacent parking lot with plenty of capacity and a valet company comes in and forces customers to valet their vehicles (empty spaces are blocked with traffic cones).

This is essentially what I'm talking about -

Except just imagine the spaces blocked off with traffic cones. Of course the valet claims to be "complimentary" but everyone knows you're an asshole if you don't tip.

I usually park myself at valet. Most of them will let you do it. Always helps since they usually put the car on display out front

I valet my M when I can't avoid it. Sometimes you gotta just let it go, it's just a car. I also tip on the way in and on the way out.

It's not just about the car with me. It's the blatant disregard for someone else's property.

A coworker of mine had his jag xj demolished by a valet. The insurance totaled.

Another Friend had their e90 m3 wrecked.

No thanks. I'll park it myself.

Letting another man touch your ride is almost equal to letting them touch your wife, so never ever valet.

Srsly, though, how exclusive is the place where you wanna go? I guess there are some places where it's really a pita to park yourself. Pick your battles, I guess, but I personally would find a way to avoid.

I find that hotels and restaurants generally let me park the i8 in front with no problems at all. I tip the valets, keep the key and tell them thanks.
