Good looking front, not so much on the back. Never been a fan of the big AMG GTs, they always felt more like old men boulevard cruisers, rather than curvy mountain road slayers. Hopefully this one won't drive like its predecessor, the CL, which felt like turning an 18-wheeler whenever you moved the steering wheel.

Looks like it's trying to look like the M6 a little bit. I think I'll keep my pet beast for a while longer.

I don't know anything about the ride of this car, but they did a good job to build a car like M6 ( at least the look of car ). the spec says about 580 HP and 660 ft-lb torque which is good enough to compete M6, but the most important issue with MB as it was mentioned before by others is the old man style type of car (even SL) compare to any BMW. Hopefully they have revised it for this model. If it rides like M6, I will consider it as a replacement at the end of my lease ... |

I still like my M6 as well.... Maybe a true SL sized coupe could get me, but not what they have so far.

Traded my Benz in on my M6, not going back anytime soon.
Looks like the Benz designers like the M6's rear end... not much creativity, but it looks good.

Front looks great.. back not so much. Seems like Mercedes is going through somewhat of a confused time.

Looks like a boat. Definitely an old mans car. I can't see taking that kind of car on canyon drives or the race track. Then again, my M5 is 4,400lbs, the same as this new S63. Maybe I'm an old man. Hmmm...

I think it looks great and some of the tech is interesting - that active suspension which gives positive lean into a bend sounds very good. It'll probably 'feel' very nice to drive as a result, but whether it remains too detached is another question (then again, our M6's are hardly the most feelsome of cars).
The AMG's interior is going to at least be a match for a full leather equipped M6 and it'll probably be more refined and insulated. As a GT, it'll probably outperform the M6, but as a drivers car I'm not so sure. A telling factor is that it's going to be fitted with Mercs (somewhat ageing) MCT gearbox, so I reckon the drivetrain package won't be as driver focused as the M6's. It'll also be sold at a different price point - probably more like a 991 Turbo so a good 20% above the BMW. Regardless, I'm looking forward to this car if only to see what that suspension performs like! |

Minor point to RPiM5: In your signature line, which I think is pretty cool except for one word, you've misspelled the beverage. It's "Champagne." The name of a city in Illinois is Champaign.

Best interior on a market, love the idea of a 63 amg 4matic. A bit pricey, but can't wait to test drive it, as soon as it comes out in Ontario.

One thing to keep in mind with this car is that it's not really trying to compete with the M6. It isn't trying to be an agile, twisty road GT. It's trying to be more like a Bentley GT with an attitude. So it's more of a boulevard cruiser or an autobahn rocket. This kinda car has never really done it for me, but I'm sure it'll be for those looking for that kind of ride. I'll boldly state that the M6 is the cheap (if you can call it that) German alternative to the AM Vanquish, while the S63 Coupe is the "cheap" German alternative to the Bentley GT.

well based on the current price the S550 or CL550 are almost the same price of M6 (S550 is a bit cheaper) but S63 AMG or CL63 AMG are more expensive. I believe the S coupe must be the same or close price of CL and SL.

I would get s63 coupe over bentley; s63 is faster, better tech (including HUD and top view + massage), should also be crazy good on gas
