Has *ANYONE* gotten an M6 with the new Nav/iDrive System?
My M6 convertible has been built (F13M White with Navarro Brown Interior). Its a week 38 Build (Sept) and its just been delivered to Spartanburgh waiting for my PDC Delivery on Nov 16...
I'm trying to find out if its got the new Nav/iDrive (3D / 200GB) system or the older one. There are several postings about BMW stating that the new system will be installed on M6 builds starting this last July, but so far everyone seems to still be getting the old unit and software. http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=716464 My dealer is also scratching his head and trying to find out whats going on. So has ANYONE received the new Nav/iDrive system in their recently delivered M6? |

My dealer has only received new 5 and 7 series with the updated nav. Was told that the 6 series will not receive the update till spring 2013. No one knows about the M6 and no response from BMW NA

I also agree that it's UNSATISFACTORY that BMW put out erroneous info on the upgrade and that guys ordering well after July got the old system. Also what would be so hard about stating that basic facts on the when we can expect an update on a car? |

BMW sells cars, not Nav's. Doesn't do them any favor to publicize something that might make someone delay an order. Apple doesn't tell you the new iPhone is coming out while they are selling a current one. But I hope my October build has it RCK |

I doubt you'll find any new M6 customer who got the updated nav - mine is last-gen too. Bugged me at first, but it stopped bothering me rather quickly.
It sure feels strange to buy "outdated" technology, but it's almost impossible to avoid anyway (as in there's always something better around the corner). edit: Besides, there have been some updates to this iDrive generation since 2009 (especially regarding media playback). As a tech guy myself, I certainly would appreciate better hardware acceleration of the interface, but all in all, it's acceptable the way it is. Last edited by 6fws; 10-21-2012 at 02:01 PM.. |

It seems only M5 customers are getting the new updated nav/info center. My car is an October build so I will post an update when it arrives assuming it has the new hardware.

There's a few caveats and uncertainties regarding the schedule however. The unknown was whether the schedule I have access to applies only to a certain market or markets. There's no indication with respect to this, so it may just be a general rollout timeline for the world, with some markets getting it on time and others getting it later. Also, production/rollout schedules can always change and the schedule I reference is at least months old.

My dealer did some digging and just got this back from BMW HQ:
“the new features that are described are not available on any 6 Series models until 3/13 SoP. The current M6 still has the old NAV system.” So, apparently, the guy with the 6 series in Germany is likely mistaken... ...and the original BMW announcement was not correct. Ugh! |

My guess is that the short production run of the 2012 M6 Cabrio (March-July) is what's delayed the new Nav hitting the entire M6 range from July production. If the Cabrio and Coupe had both entered production for the first time in July, I'm sure the flagship car would have had the flagship Nav system. Still disappointed though.

I am about to order an M6. They say November is new navigation and that they have checked it twice. I have this also from two separate dealers. I assume still they have no real idea......

"Sure Kid, November..." cause that's when the car they sell you (today) is likely to get built... Buy it now and have one of the first... Yada, Yada, Yada...
Surely you're really not that naive - right? Seems the actual build, as identified from several independent sources (above), is March or later of next year (2013)... |

Actually, I suspect the car will not have the new navigation system, but then I am a pessimist. Not sure though why I would get that answer from two separate dealerships after looking if there weren't some information to that effect. Why is this less reliable than the other anecdotes?
Are they doing the same with the M5 by the way? |

I'm more than willing to wait a few additional months for the new system in what's supposed to be the vanguard of the BMW line up. Late Dec/ early Jan order for a March delivery, now late Feb order for late Apr/early May.
Maybe the next problem like the oil pump failure issue will surface and be worked out by then as well. |

I would check the option code on the dealer order sheet. If it still uses the older one (6NR) and not the new one (609) then it will have the older nav. I figure that will update first into the system.

Mine (bought in Germany) actually said 609 since the beginning and still got the old nav. See German price list: http://www.bmw.de/de/de/newvehicles/..._pricelist.pdf
6NR appears to be BMW Apps here. |

It is really annoying. So I have to chose between the old nav system on an M6 or the new one on an M5 but without LED lights and well I just want the 6 this time. But forking out all that money for the old system does irk me.
