I'd love to own a 6M, but anything over $100k and BMW is not on my consideration list..

Not that I can afford nor will I pay that much for a car

The N55 is pretty potent in my 1 series but I don't see how BMW can justify charging MORE for the 640i Gran Coupe than what a CLS550 costs. I just test drove a CLS550 last week and the engine in that thing like an atomic bomb compared to the N55 and the Benz looks better and is better equipped as standard...I see quite a few 6 coupes on a daily basis, in fact you already see more F12 6 series than E63 6 series around where I live so they're selling like crazy but you also see tons and tons of CLSs. I'm interested to see how well customers respond to the new Gran Coupe at these prices.

Wait till you start seeing the S7 on the roads.. C&D quoted the S6 at 3.7 0-60, same as the M5, and both quicker than the E63.. Kicker is, the S7 will have the same motor, and about 100lbs more. So let's call it 3.9 now.. All for $80,000 or so. Now it blows me away how the 640 GC will get away at this price point as many of you have mentioned. Such a shame because I think this car would be a bit hit if it was cheaper.

I was hoping for that to be my next car in 3-4 years after I buy the 335xdrive, I need a sedan for the family so the gran coupe would be great! But at what cost? same price as a M5? no thanks, in between an M3 Sedan and M5, well maybe, if there is more to it than just coupe like looks (like better materials inside and maybe a little more power or something!

I love BMWs, always have since I could drive, since I turned 21 (32 now) I have owned 4 of them, along with the C63 and a few other cars, this car looks amazing and the new M5/6 engine is great, BUT BMW is going to lose massive market share soon because of pricing, Mercedes and Audi are coming out with cars that compete in materials and speed while costing much less.

Take the new Mercedes CLA, rumor is the AMG could have 370 horsepower, around the same torque and be AWD while weighing what a 1 series weighs! BMW will probably come out with a M135i for the same price but with 320 horsepower

Panamera turbo s > panamera turbo > m6 gc

This car is going to weigh 4500+ and will feel like driving a limo on steroids. Lots of supercars to buy when you're in the nosebleeds

And don't think the BMW is better equipped, because it isn't.

Long story short: I want some of what BMW is smoking
What BMW is smoking is that this car is going to compete with the Panamera, not the CLS or A7. While the CLS and A7 are directly taken off the E-class and A6 platform, the 6GC is somewhat indirectly taken off the f10 platform. Really, it is a stretched version of the f12 platform, which shares some parts with the f10. I'm not saying I agree with where they're coming from, but that's where they're coming from.

I do believe the 6GC is the best looking car in the entire BMW lineup, but the excessive sharing of engines/tranny/etc.. among the M cars has gone overboard now. M now is nothing different than AMG.

But that isn't new. Value was never associated with BMW (Audi still wears that crown) and you could make the argument that BMW still doesn't provide value when you compare the total package of what Audi and Mercedes offers.

To be perfectly honest, I don't even know why BMW got so popular with the EXX generation of cars. For us on the forums, we know what to look for or know why we prefer BMW's over Audi's and Mercedes but to the average person, BMW probably looks the least favourable.

I would rather go panamera turbo at that price. It's ugly, but performs a hell of a lot better than the M6GC would.

Pretty interesting how everyone here knows the pricing and knows the performance and knows that they would pick the Panamera over this car...even though the car is not priced yet and no performance data exists. Clairvoyant crowd I tell you.

PS - BMW, please please PLEASE make the sunroof optional. I'll gladly skip the CF roof....

I remember in the late 90s and early 2000s Mercedes was more than BMW in the US, you could get a fully loaded BMW for thousands less than a Mercedes (all classes) and in the mid to late 2000s that reversed. But to be fair the inside of the C Class and GLK is Sh*t, the only thing that makes my C63 okay is the upgraded extended Nappa leather, AMG steering wheel and shifter... I had loaner C250s and they are horrible.

Audi on the other hand does seem to be keeping up with quality and still the cheaper price.

I think this is going to be a great car; just worried they are following Porsche on pricing.

I thought the price was too high as well........I really did.

Until I sat in a 650i Individual.

WOW!

Having driven Panny turbos I can tell you the interior quality of the Bimmer is nearly the same. And performance will be very close to the Panny turbo as well.

But it will still be cheaper than said Turbo.

Also I have sat in an S7 and the new CLS63- while both are very nice the interior quality is not the same (although a Designo CLS63 is much closer).

But the hordes of leather everywhere and contrasting stitching along with buttons etc that just feel tighter and better mean that this car is definitely going to be better than either of its cheaper competitors.

So the question is not so much whether the M6GC will be worth the money as much as will people go out and spend that much money for a BMW.............

BTW.......One clue to this could be M6 Vert. sales. If one does a search for them on AutoTrader.com you can find a LOT of them unsold-not a good sign.

From what I understand, this car is not meant to be a CLS or A7/S7 competitor.

If you look at the price point of the 640i, it is within 1000 of the Panamera AND has more power. I'm sure we can all agree the Panamera's interior is extremely luxurious but the 6GC's interior is a work of art. It not only has quality materials like the Panamera but is actually styled in a more fluid manor.

It seems BMW has been trying to go "upmarket" with most of its products.

Talk about massive line expansion. M went from a 3 or 4 car lineup to a staggering number. I think Brand dilution will be their biggest competitor when it comes to maintaining high prices and residuals in the long run.

I would think those who have 6 digits to toss around, it comes to personal preference. Plus or minus 10k here or there, i wouldn't think it would be hassle.

"Well Bob...it's $110,000 there vs $100,000. I just don't know if I swing the extra 10k...."
