Can’t Remove Starter Battery Notification in MyBMW app
Hi everyone, I recently got the starter battery notification in my app and as it was the original battery in my 2017 650GC I decided to replace it. I replaced it with the same 105Ah AGM as the original and I’ve registered it with BimmerLink.
In BimmerLink the new battery is registering 99% charged and it’s registered the mileage I changed it at, but it’s now 2 days later and MyBMW app is still giving me the same starter battery notification (see screenshot) even after it’s refreshed status several time. I’ve also tried logging in and out and it’s made no difference. Any idea how I can clear it? 🤷🏻 Edit: oh and there’s no notifications popping up on the dash or in Vehicle Status (I can see) in iDrive |

This appears to be an app problem not a car problem…and since most F chassis 6 series BMWs are on the side of 2G & 3G connectivity (2011-2016)…most of us no longer have app access usage…at least in the USA market.
![]() As long as the car itself isn’t registering an issue…I wouldn’t worry. The app will probably catch up at some point (hopefully).

The app is useless, I had a 640 2016 version but cannot use 99% of the app features as the idrive is old now.
You can check the battery voltages with a multimeter to make sure it is charging properly. If the idrive has no errors then don't worry about it. |

Thanks both, really appreciate the replies. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hopefully the app catches up or the garage can look at it the next time I take it in. 😊 Matt |

Hi Montenay
Did this error clear itself? I'm also experiencing the same, I have replaced my battery and got it registered to the car, but the error is persistent. |

Careful of the dealers, they will try and convince you that it needs a "BMW" battery or the car will blow up.

I have the same issue.
Dealer said that they would re register the battery and that would clear the issue. Cost $150. Starter Battery issue continues to be shown in the App. Dealer fobbed me of with "could be fixed in the next recall" ![]() They kept the $150. |

So, a few days later I received an iDrive update and the message is gone.
Not sure if it was the dealer battery registration or the update or the combo, but happy the error is gone. |
