First 2012 M6 Convertible (F13) Spied
BIMMERPOST NEWS First 2012 M6 Convertible (F13) Spied We bring you the first look at the 2012 M6 cabrio (F13) in testing. Previous M6 sightings have all been of the M6 coupe. This M6 test mule features a cloth top and still wears the bumper from the regular 6-series, but features the signature M quad exhausts, large wheels, and huge brakes. Although we have gotten a glimpse at the production bumper previously here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=420642 The F12/F13 M6 will share the same engine as the upcoming F10 M5 - the turbocharged 8 cylinder motor from the X5 and X6 M (the BMW S63 engine, a 4.4L twin turbo, twin scroll, direct injection), expected to come in at the 585-600hp mark. It's less likely to fail and it's not as heavy as the 3 series hardtop. Owners have reported failures in the system after only one year of ownership.
I'll take the ragtop.

I couldn't agree less. The 6-series and, even more, the M6 likely isn't the only, but used a a second or third car. If someone chooses a convertible of that class, they most certainly want that car to look like a convertible as well, even with the top up. In other words, the advantages of a hard top are less important for big convertibles than the aesthetical advantages of a soft top. Also, Rolls Royce or Bentley would disagree that soft tops make for a 'cheap' car.
Best regards, south

Fuck hardtop convertibles. The roofline is awkward and is way too heavy. The previous 6 series ragtop looked great.

I prefer soft-top over hard-top. And besides that, it's almost impossible to make a big cabrio of that size come with hard-top since there's not enough room in the boot lid.

I have to agree, the car would no longer be balanced with the retractable hardtop in the trunk, resulting in premature tire wear. I've been so told by tire shops that my roof and some luggage in the trunk resulted in inside tire wear on my car.

The next M6 will have a choice of both multi-spoke and five spoke wheels , with the multi-spoke being unique to the M6 with the five spoke also being available on the next M5. Although the multi-spoke design seen with the M5 is exclusive to the M5.
The M6 Cabrio will debut in September 2012. Ahead of the 2012 Mondial l'automobile ,Paris. |

As mentioned already, huge brakes with drilled brake discs, quad exhaust, and the same rear axle as F10 M5 prototypes.

Absolutely, another point why it's an M6. Best regards, south
