Friday night I went to a ball and was the DD. I had 2 girls in the back of my 650xi coupe, and it was an extensive process every time we had to get in and out with the slow moving seats and the narrow opening into the deep seats (definitely more of a process after the ball, for obvious reasons lol, and also because it was raining). I felt like I was eating my knee caps, and I was paranoid the whole time about pointy heels being awkwardly manipulated so close to my delicate Nappa leather. Not the best plan on my part, but it worked out okay without any damage to the car. I was very grateful that they chose to put the cheaper, more durable Dakota leather on the seat backs, because there would've surely been scuffs had it been Nappa. Some damp microfiber cloths and leather cleaner restored the finish back to its original finish.

Short dresses??
This was a Southern Ball Don't they wear big hoop skirts ( à la "Gone With The Wind") No wonder they had a hard time. If in fact there were "hotties in short dresses" you should probably put up pics to prove it. |

FWIW, although I don't hang out by the door at formal events to see who arrives in what car, it would have been quite a humorous sight to see four people getting out of a car that never really was intended to carry four people. What you did makes one look more like poseurs than posh lords and ladies of the manor. I mean really...no gentleman would put his lady through the sort of humiliation and inconvenience you did, especially going to the sort of event that reeks of wealth, comfort, gentility, indulgence and convenience. It's not a matter of means; it's a matter of courtesy and personal refinement. What kind of dude takes his lady to a ball or cotillion (not a prom) and makes her crawl, in about as undignified, non-grand-entrance-worthy, manner possible in/out of the back seat of his car? A high school kid and his girlfriend would if neither her nor his parents would offer them something else. That state of affairs is just preposterous to imagine. Suum cuique. All the best. BTW -- why does a lady wear a short dress, a cocktail dress, rather than a gown to a ball?

Trust me, this was not a dignified or glamorous event - ball is perhaps too strong of a word here. It was more of an impromptu transportation solution.
No poofy Azalea Trail Maid (see Google Images) dresses for this shindig. But that would make for one comical picture in the back of a 6er. lol. I'll put it on my bucket list.

Of all the pictures and videos I've posted, these would've been the ones to share, huh? Too bad I didn't take any. #fail

Those aren't the gowns I see at the balls I go to either. I'm sure that sort of "get up" would only appear at a costume ball. About the closest to that that one could expect to see would be at debutante cotillions. I had in mind the types of thing ladies wear to inaugural balls in D.C. or awards events in Los Angeles. All the best.

Just like my S4 that has two rear seats, an adult can only fit on the passenger side if the front seat is significantly moved forward. I consider these cars 2 seaters. The rear seat is for my coat.

In a convertible with the top down it's not bad. I'm a big guy and 6'1" I have had 3 guys with e 5'10" to 6' the three of them 160 to 190 lbs. I have the seat up as much as I can to drive safely. This arrangement is fine for about 10 miles max I'd say 5 without too much discomfort. It's certainly not ideal. I was trying to post the video of Clarkson demonstrating the proper method of roadster egress with female models, but alas the interwebs have made it missing.

I am driving the 2011 convertible 640i. In my opinion in the backseats only children can be seated. The leg space is just not enough, even if the front seats are moved as much as possible to the front.
But anyway, it is a convertible for 1 or 2 persons, to enjoy life. Certainly not a family car. |

im 6ft, have the GC, the back is ok if the front seats are a bit forward, sitting in the front i am sometimes asked to move my seat a bit forward to make it more comfy for someone in the rear. Kids in the back is ok - but they will put their feet up onto the backrests. The distance is not great overall. But we didn't get these cars to care about something like that ! 4 doors in a beautiful shape makes it good enough!

My girlfriend at 4'11" 100 lbs can fit sitting sideways or holding her knees. Doesn't mind it for very short trips. We fit her and her daughter back there simultaneously and there wasn't much complaining
