2013 650i (U.S.) Models Held at Port....
Seems the 2013 models are here (I know mine is), but for some reason they're being held at the port? Anyone have any concrete info as to why?

I tried to arrange Performance Center Delivery for my 2013 650i and I received an email stating that they couldn't guarantee the dates I wanted because the 2013 model has yet to receive EPA and CARB certification. Here is the text from the email.
Dear XXXXX, Thank you for submitting a Performance Center Delivery reservation for XXXXX. Unfortunately, this production number (XXXXX) is a new model or new model year and we cannot offer a delivery date at this time. EPA and CARB Certifications are issued by the government and must be obtained for every model every year, regardless of any change (or not) in the production of the vehicle. The vehicle will remain at the VDC/VPC until approvals are received and all holds are removed. It will not ship to The BMW Performance Center or your BMW Retail Center. Please inform your client that we will contact you with a delivery date as soon as all EPA and CARB Certifications have been received by BMWNA and the holds have been removed. Should the client wish to cancel you will need to submit a cancellation form which can be found on CENTERNET. Thank you for your patience! BMW Performance Center Delivery Team |

My mom just took deliver of a 2013 X3 today.
So is this issue limited to the 650i? Also, my dealer said that sometimes a car will be held at the port until more ships arrive with cars so that the truck can be fully loaded with cars before leaving the port. Maybe that's what the holdup is? |

The X3 wouldn't be affected by this, but it would apply to the new 650i, 550i, and 750i that use the new V8 TT valvetronic engine.

Yeah its the V8 and the EPA, nothing to do with an X3. I'm really hoping the cars get released this week, would be nice to take delivery this Saturday.

I wonder how can this happen. Either BMW has been too late with introducing the new specs for government approval, or some government clerks are typing really slow....

Just got an email, the 650i models have been released to the trucking company or companies now. I hope mine gets here by Friday so I can take delivery Saturday!
