I like sapphire better, and I think it is the blackest of any brand's metallic blacks. Most are charcoal-looking, but I think sapphire is still legitimately black. Sapphire will also help to hide dirt, etc. better than jet black. Just my thought...

Black Sapphire. Metallic paint is a lot deeper and shiny, and more resistant as well. Besides it is really black.
Here are 4 pics of my black baby.

Jet black shows EVERYTHING. Scratches, even the littlest ones look like a nightmare on jet black.
Black Sapphire is a sexy color. In direct light, it does look like a lighter shade of black, but it sparkles so beautifully with the metallic in it. At night it looks straight up black. I wish this color was available on M-Sport in the US. |

I'm okay with this as I've had plenty of open air in convertibles, so opening the shade alone makes the inside feel very spacious, which is all I need. They couldn't make the coupe's open due to the shape of the car. The shape is too great to mess up for the sake of opening a window

Yep. It doesn't slide, just tilts to open a couple inches in the back.

Black is indeed a beautiful color. (some say black is not a color, it is a shade... and white is not a color, it is a tint!!) In anycase, black is very hard to keep looking great, on a constant basis. Forget the scratches, just the swirl marks alone from waxing/polishing can be ugly. We owned a Black 67 Nova SS show car for 14 yrs and took "best paint" at a lot of shows. It's a ton of work for a show car and would be even more for a daily driver.
That being said, it's alway a choice. I like Black. BUT........... we are truly in love with this Carbon Black color!! From what we see here on this forum, a lot of guys checked off this color. Definitely a Black with no sun during the day and at night. Bring out the rays and BOOM... darkest blue metallic I've ever seen. A unique color and very popular with the 6er guys. We also chose the Ivory Napa interior for a super and elegant interior. In the end.......... the color choice is yours. So far you've made an excellent choice for the body!! |

I don't think you'll be regretting your decision when you finally get it. I wouldn't give mine up for any other car (BMW or otherwise) < $120,000... The M5 is very tempting, but the 6er beats it in looks and materials. I'd normally prefer the extra 160 hp and other ///M perks, but being < 25, my insurance will kill me for the extra power, but not so much for extra Nappa and a huge screen.

Jet black versus Sapphire
No question about it. If you are OCD about your car, then go with the Black Sapphire. I have a 2006 650ci vert Jet Black and it shows everything. I have issues (as we all do) when it comes to the appearance and cleanliness of my cars and the Jet Black drives me nuts!!! I have just ordered a 2013 650ci vert (July Build) in Space Grey because I could not get Black Sapphire with the M sport Package. Stick with your original order and go with black sapphire unless you want to 3M clear bra the entire car. Just my $.02...

Space Gray in the F12/F13 M Sport is beautiful. It shows the lines of the car really well.
