Why is it so hard to stop looking at a BMW?

I’ve owned different brands over the years. Some better on paper, some more comfortable, some more practical.

But there’s something with BMW I can’t really explain.

I catch myself looking back at the car after parking. Not just once, but almost every time. And not only my own – other BMWs on the road catch my eye in a way other cars just don’t.

It’s not just design, not just performance. It’s something in the proportions, the stance, the way it sits on the road. Almost like it’s slightly alive, even when it’s standing still.

Hard to describe, but it feels… intentional.

None of my previous cars did that. They were good cars. This feels different.

Curious if others feel the same – or if I’m just overthinking it.

I’m still fairly new to the BMW world. I’ve owned just one. But I’d lusted after an M-car after seeing my first E46 M3 back in university.

For me, it’s seeing all the heritage design elements and how they’re (usually) blended in unique and interesting ways into new body styles over the years (Hoffmeister kink, kidney grill, strong belt line, long hood with the greenhouse/cabin set well back). That’s part of what keeps my interest.

But also, BMW’s wheel size, wheel-arch-gap, and wheel-to-bumper spacing has always been spot-on to my eye. The proportions are just right.

To me that happens only for generations up to E, well to some degree to F too (not all of them though). Absolutely no positive emotions I have when looking at the current gen cars

But I've got similar feelings to many other cars too, quite a few of Porsches, some old Hondas or Toyotas (like MR2 or NSX or the real Supra MK4). Hell, even for Wranglers and some RAM trucks as well

PS: Oh, and all my cars are alive for me too I even thank them sometimes after coming back from long trips, or tell them they are gonna be alright and I'll fix them if they are broken Call me crazy! I don't care
