I guess it depends on which Springfield you live in! Prices can be higher in metro areas. Cost also depends on how much work the X needs to get the paint nice for the PPF layer.

You should also consider doing the mirror caps and side skirts.

Searching this forum will allow you to locate previous discussions about cost. Here in the Wash DC area there is a wide range depending on which film brand & the pre-application paint prep.

I’m doing the full car with Profilm mat except gloss parts where they will be using gloss.
I accepted 1.950€ proposal from the detailer and he’ll be doing it the second week of April.
He was asking for 1.500 just front.

About a month ago I paid $3,750 for a ceramic coating on the entire car and partial PPF, covering the hood, front bumper, rocker panels, headlights, mirrors, and A pillars on a Z4. I'd imagine an X1 would've cost a bit more since there's more area to cover, but I wouldn't think it'd be ton more. This is in SC, so it could be different depending on your local market.

It’s best to call around to detailers in your area and get some pricing and talk to them about their process.

I did my M235i most recently and paid $1,100 for Xpel ultimate; full front (hood, headlights, bumper, fenders, mirrors). Definitely do the headlights. They’re the most important part.

My install included removing the kidney grills and roundel to get the film edges behind those, as well as unbolting the fender liners to wrap the edges around behind them. The detailer I use custom orders the kits with the sheets oversized a bit to allow for this. The install also covered some paint correction to prep for the install.

Pricing can vary a lot depending on what product is being used, how they’re installing it, and how much prep the car needs. They had my car for 3 days to properly prep, install, and allow curing, then checking all the edges and ensuring proper adhesion before delivering it. There are cheaper places where I am, but I’d rather pay a bit more for the installer that’s committed to the best result.

About three months ago I paid roughly the same for roughly the same coverage as you on a 2026 Z4 (central SC market). While the Z4 is obviously smaller than the X5 by a good margin, it's absolutely covered in curves, creases, etc. that make it a more labor-intensive install, so the total coverage vs. the complexity difference between the X5 and Z4 probably is in the ballpark of evening out.

I would say this is a pretty decent quote, assuming it's a reputable installer using a quality PPF. Honestly, the skill and meticulousness of the installer is about 80% of the equation – I'd rather have a somewhat inferior brand of PPF done by an excellent installer than the other way around. Of course, both is better, so be sure to do your homework.

Very high quality shop and STEK PPF. I don't know the film thickness they are using but will have to ask. Personally I would not want to try to deal with all the turns and bends in the front front bumper.

Definitely go Stek. I'm guessing it's DYNOshield so it should be 8mm. Numbers look good. I'd 100% add mirror caps too. They tend to take a beating for some reason.

Prices will vary a LOT by location. Where are you?
Either way, I would suggest no more than 2 goats or 3 blow jobs.

That's cold. IMO it not the value of the car, it's the value of the car to the owner and how long they intend to keep it. Someone might milk 5 + years out of a X1.
