So I was tired of the adapter base taking up all that space in my console so I decided to remove. It was a five minute one tool job:



1. Separate plastic bottom from felt covered base with thin

2. Push down and pull felt base away from console

3. Push plastic adapter though felt base and set felt base aside



4. Open small door in rear of console and disconnect three wires, pulling out plastic adapter



5. Reinstall rubber mat. I covered the hole with black felt, but for about $35 you can order the full mat (oem 51169217615).
