I wasn't suggesting you MUST use BP, just pointing out that's what BMW recommends. You may want to try that Chevron additive that others have endorsed. I did some research and didn't find anything negative about it. I still don't think addtives should be required, but you have nothing to lose at this point. Just follow directions so you don't over concentrate. BTW, BP is not on the quality fuel website. Shell, Chevron and Mobile are.
