I was in Cranford/Westfield about 40 miles north of Toms River. My grandparents had a place on the bay in Toms River behind Stewarts Rootbeer on Hwy 37 before the bridges into Seaside Heights.
The house was wiped out in Hurricane Sandy. Sad b/c they had flood insurance on it for 27 years and took it off 3 years before Sandy b/c it was "too expensive"
They could have sold the house and property for an easy $600k b/c it was the corner lot on the bay. I think they ended up with $125k as the house was a total loss.
