I agree with you for the most part. Sometimes it is necessary to get a warranty. For example, If you buy a Mercedes, Audi, Acura, Infinity, etc. :-) But seriously, if you’re buying a used vehicle for a whole lot of money. And you believe that it may have some mechanical issues in the near future, then it is good to get the extended warranty. If you’re planning on keeping your vehicle for a long time and you aren’t planning on adding more than 15k-20k miles a year, it may be worth the additional warranty.
I have owned many brand new vehicles over the years and have never once needed the warranty services while it existed. But, once the warranty expired BANG!!! I needed it. Go figure. :-)
