All things equal, higher octane will decrease power. The only benefit to running higher octane levels is if you increase boost or timing to take advantage of the detonation resistance of the octane levels. So if you weren't already having knock issues, this result is expected IMO. There is an entirely different discussion regarding fuel chemistry vs power, beyond just octane measurements.
