Sorry to hear of your problems with the M6.
Secondhand engines here in the UK are about £5000 to £6000, plus fitting. No idea what a rebuild would cost - a lot will depend upon what the engineer finds after tear down.
That's one of the reasons I believe it's worthwhile paying for an extended warranty.
