IMO they are competitive now ... as I understand it they've out sold both German rivals... maybe merc and audi should take a page out of the "older" BMW hand book...the focus should be on quality not quantity....
If you want the best mid size four door sedan, it was easy.... buy a bmw 5er...
Now it’s by a 5 or a 6... Why? Beside dilution of the brand?
