I'm a former truck guy - F150 and F250 diesel for a combined 22 years and 380,000 miles of ownership.
What are your towing and hauling requirements? Diesel is king in this area.
If diesel is not required, forget the gas hog V8s and look at the modern highly efficient engines. I am a Ford guy. GM trucks are also fine for millions of people.
